I've had at least three deals from MPD (before they were taken over by AO) and they have all gone without a hitch.My current one was a 24-month contract at £17.99 a month, with a lowish-end unlocked handset, and cashback (by redemption, not automatic) that took the cost down to £2.50 a month (yes really) which is £60 total over the term. I kept the SIM to use but sold the handset to CEX for £80 ...
