O/S Daily Wednesday 5 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, broken cloud with sun trying to peek through - relatively calm after yesterdays high winds and rain. Damp underfoot but not too bad. Sunshine and showers forecast for today. Air is nippy.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans or fish and veg. I have defrosted beef for tonight which I'll put in the ninja and cook as a slow cooker meal, mash and LO veg will complete the meal.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad - was training so feel more confident doing that job which is new to me. The new roles start shortly.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC, hope you have a good day at work.Dry and fine here, at the moment anyway, a bit of a change from yesterday.DP!, hope your appt at RVI went ok and you didn''t have to wait too long. Dil and i went into Pri*ark yesterday as well, then I went to TK M after she'd gone to her foot appt. We might have walked past each other! We were going to go for a coffee outside MnS, but someone bagged the last table as we were walking over, so we didn't have one. When I was walking to the bus stop yesterday I was a bit nervous, daft I know, but I haven't used public transport for over a year. Anyway when I got to the bus stop a Newcastle bus pulled in straightaway, so I didn't have time to start mithering. It was fine, no problems. The rest of the day was just as usual, bit of housework, and I started a thank you card, don't need it now, but it's handy to have one made. There are a few birthdays this month, so topmorrow I'm going to set to and make cards for them.Just the usual day ahead here, bit of ironing and tidying.Hope Gers and her Mum have had a peaceful night, and thoughts to our other people who aren't well, Hope Steve is doing all right Snoozer.Have a good Wednesday if you can, take care folks.14

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I hope it's less windy today we've been buffeted about for two days now, the engineer is coming today so hopefully he can sort out our problem.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Blue sky, sun and frost here. No rain forecast for us today. Yesterday I thought we were escaping any but it found us at teatime.
As I have been housebound since Saturday I am planning a bus ride along the valley bottom this morning. Just a couple of towns along, about half an hour bus ride from town. It's a compact little town, around the market square, but it has a selection of shops we don't have. I used to visit regularly until Covid hit us and it must be at least 14 months since I was there. I hope it hasn't changed.
Thinking as always of GERS and DM and all our other poorlies or poorly loved ones. Take care one and all xx

Morning All
Beautiful morning, the sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky. Very cold though with a sharp frost - I had a hat and gloves on this morning for a walk, the river was looking lovely. A big white wash is on the line, it should dry well today.
After an arguement with myself yesterday I did go swimming and thoroughly enjoyed it! Why do I find excuses not to go but end up going anyway!
Hugs to those in need, especially Gers and her DM, Nelski, Marie and snoozer's Steve. Take care. XX14 -
Morning everyone
Scarlet Ribbons - I waited over an hour for my appointment - which then lasted all of 2 minutes! Never mind, at least I got to the big city, though I was disappointed in Primark - there wasn't anything jumped out and said 'buy me' - though I suppose it is between seasons. I am wearing new knickers today though!
Got a new pair of shoes in TK Maxx, so that made me happy.
Hope your mum had a good night Gers and you got some rest.12 -
Morning folks.Had my first peaceful night in a while so I feel refreshed. Yesterday was a series of manic episodes but the upshot is that DM is very comfortable in the new hospital bed and Alan managed to deconstruct the monster wooden bed and put most into his car. ❤️ The GP called round in the midst of the mayhem too, I now have something to calm my anxiety too, it certainly worked last night!
Carers will now come in four times a day, we'll see how that works out. Today Alan is coming back to remove the two remaining pieces of the bed and we'll go together to the tip. In the late evening DM's 'favourite' GP is coming to see her on a personal level, that's so lovely of her.I need to clear out more stuff so I'll get on with that too. As DM has stepped away from the very brink I must have a different focus for now. Many thanks folks, and my thoughts are still with all the poorlies in this virtual family. 💕
Happy Wednesday to all.15 -

Morning all.
Bright but freezing here. They keep foredasting rain, but on our little micro-climate we can have torrential rain in one spot while 50 yards away there is not one drip.
I'm off to help a friend with a project she is running at her church. She is all for protecting the environment and has a sort of filling station where people come to refill their washing up liquid bottles, etc. This has expanded and expanded and now she sells all sorts of home made and home grown products, vegetables, eggs, honey, jams, knitted and sewing items and offers tea and coffee and chat.
Anyway, that's where I'm off to today where I will probably spend most of it in the kitchen making tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits.
My thoughts, and probably all of ours are with Gers and her Mum. I think we are all travelling this road with them.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all
It looks bright and sunny out there, which is just as well as we're off to Whipsnade Zoo today. It's a special birthday treat for DD but DS is driving up so we have six of us for a family day out. Haven't been there for at least 25 years and I'm sure it will have changed.
I have no other plans for the day but I'm sure birthday cake will feature somewhere!
Thoughts are with Gers and also Snoozer's Steve; hoping things are a bit more settled for both of them.
Take care all.16 -
Morning all! Really sunny today. Yesterdays threatened downpour kind of happened but kind of didn't so it was quite nice most of the day. I spent two hours setting up my new compost bin and moving the old compost. As soon as all of it has been moved, I'd estimate two thirds have been so far, I can get shot of the old compost bin and there'll be space to move the fatsia.Garden chat happened so I'm now the proud owner of some foxgloves and some ornamental grass in exchange for a couple of fuschias and a heuchera. And I got all the gossip. I'm going to get the garden shredder out that I've never used and see how it is with cardboard. I do have some little sticks to chop, they will all be saved for the compost. This means I'll be on the lookout for a couple of plastic buckets with lids. Look out skips, here I come. And that's my day apart from a wm load. Supper will be a mix of stuff, OH is lates so only me to please. Leftover chicken and rice in a curry sauce sounds good to me.Shout out to anyone going through rubbish, having rubbish happen to them or feeling rubbish. Shout out to those feeling good, feeling happy or enjoying stuff. Have a great day if you can, or a tolerable one if not.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13
