  • Thanks WW! I've never had sciatica before but being 5 stone overweight, constantly lifting a 2 stone toddler and having a desk job would do it I guess! Time to sort myself out and do some exercise. Gah.

  • Hello hello!
Much better day today, the weird tiredness has finally lifted and my back feels much better, hooray!
We also had the first sunshine in weeks today so had a lovely afternoon in the park with my boys feeding the ducks and playing in the grass, bliss!
We took some pearl barley we already had in the cupboard for the birds and brought our own drinks and snacks, so another NSD.

Yeah it's been abysmal hasn't it. I didn't feel like I missed much spending most of last week in bed!

  • Morning! (Just about!)
Not an NSD today. Went into home bargains for some cleaning stuff (within budget) and found they had outdoor rugs for £10. I've been looking for one for our little concrete square of a yard for ages, to make a little play area for the kids, but I've never seen any under £45 so couldn't justify the price. So for a tenner, it was too good to pass up. I've funded it from the gift account for now and will replace it when I get paid in 3 days. I don't regret buying it as I've been looking for one for so long. :)

If you have sciatica regularly it's worth asking your GP to refer you for physio to learn some exercises that help free your sciatic nerve.

Thanks @CRANKY40. I've never had it before! I expect it's to do with constantly carrying DS2 on my hip while not doing enough exercise and being too overweight.
I did some yoga for sciatica pain relief when it happened (found on YouTube) and it really helped. It's totally gone today! I think I just trapped the nerve funny because I had a few clicks in my spine when doing that yoga and that gave me instant relief!
Bit of a wake up call to exercise more regularly again.

The muscle that traps the sciatic nerve is in your bum cheek so you're probably right about carrying the toddler causing it. If you look up exercises for piriformis syndrome online they're easy enough to do (it's the priformis muscle that does the trapping). I feel your pain about being overweight......
  • Thanks Cranky, I'll look that up! :)
