Hello all, the sun is shining but it's still blowing a gale. Don't think the rain is far away though as the sky is looking black over the mountain top. We didn't put the bins out last night, goodness knows where half the recycling would end up so we did that early this morning. We had to get up early for an Iceland delivery anyway, all present and correct with no swapsies as Mr Fix It called them. It seems I'm not the only nutter in our house who can't remember the right words ! Two people arrived promptly at 8am and I thought it was 2 girls, wrong ! Turned out to be 2 lovely young lads, both with their hair in top knots......... must get my eyes checked
Doesn't seem much hope for either of us today 😂
The shopping has been cleaned and sorted, mine has been put away except some bread and rolls. I'll do that when we come back from dropping Dad's shopping up to him ( his freezer goods have rented room in my freezer ) Mustn't forget to take his banana cake too.Nothing much else planned for today as I'm still suffering with my back, may do a bit of light tidying and putting things in their rightful place, I'll seize up if I sit still for too long.Gers thinking of you and your Mum. Hope you both have a peaceful day.Snoozer I hope Steve is still improving.taff now why didn't I think of that ? I'd probably need a heck of a long chain though as the stumps are in the back garden 🤣Hugs to all and healing vibes to all the poorly ones.Scarlett well done on the free van stuff. We never seem to get any free stuff, we're always the ones giving it away.Right better pack the car and get up to Dad's.Take care all, stay safe and dry.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Gers, Dad was adamant that he wouldn't go to hospital and we managed to keep him at home, in the living room with us carrying on daily life (such as it was) around him. He too stepped back from the brink a few times and in fact fooled us all. I had been staying with him on nights the nurses didn't come but that night a nurse was due - about 4pm I thought that he had changed and decided to stay, then a couple of hours later he asked for and ate ice-cream and interjected in a conversation so I left to get a decent night's sleep. In hindsight it was a last rallying and he slipped away at 6am with just the nurse there, I'm sure he planned it.15

Such a difficult time for you Gers, glad you have some help in place.
Popping down the road quickly to deliver a birthday present for a friend otherwise a quiet day, might join the secondary breast care zoom meeting this afternoon, they are a nice bunch. don't know why I have just used the word quickly, back is still painful so everything is slow with rest in between.14 -
Gers, I think you're right to. If we'd had any sense we'd have had my father out of hospital as soon as he was back to compos mentis again. The consultant though scared the bejesus out of both of us and he was obviously wanting to keep him in. I did say to my sister and father I'd be having him out of there on the Monday because there was nothing they were doing for him there that we couldn't do. And then he died on the Monday. I feel so guilty we didn't get him home, he wanted to come home, but short of putting him in a tesco trolley, we couldn't manage move him at all, he was a big man and he deteriorated much faster than any of us would have thought and stayed like that for too long. Yes, she will be frightened and worried and scared, but she'll be much happier with you at home than she wuld in hospital where although some people try their best, a lot of people don't.

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday the rain rained and the wind blew all day so my neatly cut grass is now covered with bits of leaves, twigs and bud casings from the trees. It is still the same this morning, showers at present with heavy rain forecast, plus more wind so not much point in trying to clear up yet, but everything did need drenching so fair enough.
Gers, hoping that you and your DM have a peaceful day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Oh GERS my heart is going out to you but I'm glad you have a care package in place. I hope it works out for the best for you both and DM can stay at home After the necessary hospital stays Bob had for treatment I would have hated for him to go through his end of life care in any of them. We were very lucky when he was admitted to the Marie Curie hospice to sort out his pain relief and he ended up staying there for his last three weeks. I moved in with him so was with him night and day. (A lady down the corridor was allowed to have her much loved dog stay with her!) The times Bob rallied and slipped back again was unbelievable. We had a lovely ensuite room, with a bed for me, and as many visitors as he was up to could visit any time of the day or night. As far removed from being in hospital as you can imagine. A truly beautiful and caring place but sadly not enough beds to accommodate all who need them at such lovely places."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13

Just popped in to see how's Gers and mum and snoozer are doing
I lost my mum at home when I was young but was with both of my step mums when they passed one in hospital one at home. It is difficult in both and both have pros and cons.
Taff don't feel guilty we all do the best we can for them and they would know that
This last year with covid has made it so much more difficult for families to be with loved ones at the end I can understand why they want their loved ones to be at home.
Gers please make sure you do a little self care it is so easy during these times to not take care of you and to keep going but you must have some step back time to for your own well being
Snoozer glad Steve is improving
Sending ((((((hugs)))))) to anyone who needs them

We were able to keep my Mam at home, though the dr wanted to send her into hospital. We looked after her, my dad, sister and myself, and were with her when she died. My brother couldn't get there in time, I felt so sorry for him when he arrived too late.
Pleased that we were able to keep her at home though.12 -
My husband made me promise that I would not allow him to be admitted to hospital but would look after him at home. He gets agitated if he is away from home, I will do my utmost to see that his wishes are respected.
Gers, I hope you have a better day today and your mum is a bit more settled, A hospital bed with help the nurses caring for her.
You are both never far from my thoughts, try and get some rest if you can.
Out this morning, expensive, we both need new glasses, so the best part of £400 between the two of us, DB has been referred to get his second cateract done, it may be as long as 9 months before they do it. We also called at Wilkinson to get a few bits before coming home. The cleaner had been whilst we were out, a nice clean house waiting for us.
Supper is pork casserole, I have added some tomato puree to it, we are having it with veg.10 -
Gers - thoughts and prayers are with you.
Weather is all over the place here - sunshine and strong winds + heavy showers and a thunderstorm.
I finished all 3 aprons for the planned craft fair stall holders today. Gone back to crochet as I have 2 ordered pairs of wrist warmers to finish.
Chap came to collect finished hat bands and was very generous - gave me £100 which I will take to SA tomorrow and get him a receipt so he can put it through his books.
Almost finished reading a book last night but got too sleepy so that is on my list of to dos.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
