Plusnet price hike

Options
Hi

Im thinking of trying to get a better deal out of Plusnet due to their pricehike in June. Ive found them hard to deal with in this regard before. Has anyone ever managed to negotiate a fair deal? Their business model doesn't appear to lend itself to this type of customer retention.

All helpful answers are much appreciated.

Most providers have an automatic price hike in their terms and conditions for new contracts so you may just jumping out of the saucepan into the fire so to speak if you move around.  If your current deal was agreed before October 7th last year it is not affected by the automatic June price-rise.

    Hi NeillB,

Curious to know if you've been notified of the impending price hike and whether that communication stated a percentage increase?

    Thanks,
    MSE Chris

Hi MSE Chris.  They did put in a footnote when I signed up for a new minimum term last November but it only stated "price will increase by Consumer Price Index rate of inflation published in April 2021 plus 3.9%".  Ive not received anything to indicate a exact figure which is pretty pathetic. Hope this helps.

My current Plusnet 35mbs contract at £22.99 pm expires on the 3rd June. They e-mailed me a couple of weeks back saying that my price would go up to £36.52 pm but if I replied immediately they would renew at £23.99 plus any future price increases. Knowing that I could do better I rang them to discuss but the best they would offer was 18 months at £22.50 which when pushed they admitted would have an immediate 4.5% increase applied in June and the same next March. I politely declined and through this site have set in motion a switch to Vodafone 65mbs at £22 pm for 24 months with 4.5% increases in April '22 and '23, plus a £100 Amazon card. The switch is scheduled for the 2nd June.
Plusnet have just sent me a 'Sorry You're Leaving' e-mail and despite my paying them up to the 3rd June they also said that a charge would be imposed because I am leaving before the end of my minimum term. Given that this charge is 37p I will not be bothering to dispute it!

Be aware that they will probably charge the full monthly payment ,then refund the balance weeks down the line !!!!

Mmmm....might cause more trouble than its worth - on Plusnet's own forums, in the past it's been reported that ex customers have had issues trying to pay outstanding final amounts by debit card.
