Assuming the ‘bill’ is based on actual meter readings and not estimates and that the hot tub is in regular use then the finger must firmly point at the hot tub.  Strip (fluorescent) lights are far from economical to run but won’t come close to any heater in a hot tub. Read your meter as previously advised, get a good idea of what you’re using and when and re-visit the meter readings on the ‘bill’.

The problem with hot tubs is that even if you are not using it regularly, you can't just turn the power off, as bad things happen if you leave it full and cold...

They are a fun idea in concept but a financial burden in practice.

Anyone that can afford a "decent" hot tub (and not one of those paddling pool rubber things), can certainly afford the additional heating costs.

Its all good if you know that they are expensive to run and take the decision with your eyes open, but when you buy a house with one already installed the reality can be a bit of a surprise...
