All three mid-year BHs in the UK are this kind of fixed day - first and last Monday in May, last Monday in Aug.

Easter is the only BH in the year that's relatively mobile - it's based on the lunar calendar... the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21st March... And if you can explain the logic behind that...
But my point was that two of the Bank Holidays are missing from the iPhone calendar this year, which might be why the op didn’t know it’s a BH today, especially if she runs her life from her iPhone like many do (including me!).

OP if you're still reading, I can highly recommend Lakeland's Blitz That Mould products. They do a spray bottle and a paint on thick gel, brush built in one. With either you just spray or apply, leave for 20 minutes then rinse with clean water, job done. I used it on my window seals (long story) and it worked a treat, keeping the mould at bay, currently up to six months and no recurrence. I used the gel on the seal on my bathroom sink for a stubborn spot and it cleared it first time, never to return.
Not to worry you unduly, but is your landlord paying tax on the rental income? Others here are experts but I've read here that HMRC can confirm if he is. If not, I believe you can withhold the tax amount and set it aside to pay to HMRC as it would be your responsibility to do so. Hopefully one of the resident experts will be along to confirm or correct me on this.1 -

I think sadly the cleaning may not be to your standards, but I do think you are over reacting. It's not really that bad, they missed some bits, it feel a bit like those people who go on "Four in a bed" and look above wardrobes for dust.
Just clean it and move on with your life. Is this the first time you have rented ?.
Legally I think you have no chance of getting out of the contract as so much of the items you have spotted can be quickly cleaned or a bit of new silicone etc.0 -
If it's that bad call your council's environmental health department. They will be able to advise, even if it's just to recommend cleaning/removals firms. The house next to me was a squat before we moved in. We had to gain access to access a drain in their garden. We arranged for the landlord to get the keys, but the water people refused to go through the house to locate the drain as it was full of rubbish, food, human waste and drug paraphernalia. We had to get EH out to force the LL to remove it all. And we don't even live there!0

Not at all, what she is describing is vile. I almost gagged when she described the stained, stinking mattress. It is not fair or healthy to expect someone to live in other peoples' filth, especially when they're paying for the privilege.
