So have you rented direct with the landlord and was there an inventory?0

Eh? How would that absolve the LL from the basic requirement of letting a property in an acceptable condition for someone to move into?Murphybear said:
Unless of course the previous tenant had the same problem as you and found it in a poor state when they moved in.brianposter said:It would seem sensible to ask that the previous tenants deposit be spent on cleaning.0 -
keys were givn and the Inventory guy took inventory in front of us. We didn't follow him around, we sat in garden. after he left we started looking around.HampshireH said:So have you rented direct with the landlord and was there an inventory?
contract says inventory will be given for our signature and review0 -
As others have said make sure the landlord is kept informed on the problems, it is his/her responsibility and IMO letting agents are just hopeless at dealing with this.
As others have said you MUST keep records of all this, do not deal with it on the phone.0 -
im tearing up thinking about it, to clear after someone else's sh** I haven't got a car, while have to hire man and a van, who will be ready to transport rubbishyouth_leader said:I am so sorry, lots of elbow grease required. Careful with Mr Muscle oven cleaner, it ran down a woman's arms over her rubber gloves and burnt her. I googled mould and it seems vinegar kills mould spores, apply it liberally.
As for the bins, my seller left both of mine full of mixed rubbish too. I had to tip them both out, sort the rubbish from the recycling, and went to the dump. Have you got a local recycling centre you could take it to?
also I'm realising my fight is now with LL. tenants are gone & they don't seem human and civil, I need solutions from LL now
All my excitement of living in a garden house has evaporated. i cannot see anything beyond rubbish and grime0 -

For goodness sake! In a fortnight, you'll have put this behind you. Roll your sleeves up, get the place sorted, and look forward to living there very happily. Of course, you're upset, but don't let it spoil your future.
In the meantime, let your landlord know, so he deducts plenty from the deposit that he can then hand over to you.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?5 -
The point of keeping the deposit would be to cover the cost of rectifying the problems surely? Which doesn't appear to have happened!Slithery said:
And who would blame them given the condition of the property?coffeehound said:They probably trousered the previous tenant's deposit, too.0 -
