Loft not shown

I am buying a semi detached house.  Do you normally prefer to view loft during first viewing or later after house offer has been accepted.? On my first viewing I thought it would not be better to view loft but I put an offer that accepted.  I went for 2nd viewing before survey next week but house owner said loft is full with lot of stuff and I won't be able to see anything.

Should I wait and ask for another viewing for full house before contract exchange?

Or surveyors would come back with his comments if any issue with loft in survey report? Thanks

When I was selling my house I was reluctant to allow viewers into my loft for H&S reasons as it wasn't boarded.  Is this loft boarded?

The surveyor will inspect the loft for you, but you could also ask to view it pre exchange.

My buyer's surveyor whispered in my ear as he left that 'my water tank joint had a leak' and I was really scared I was going to have a flood. I was lucky enough to get a plumber immediately who spent two hours up there in about -2 degrees removing the joint - apparently the leak was like a tear drop, the joint would have been good for many years. Do take the surveyor's report with a pinch of salt, in a perfect world and all that.

I have never viewed a loft and I don’t think any of the thirty viewers that came to my house looked in loft.

if the loft is important to you then it’s fine to ask to see It.  I am buying a ten year old house and am not really interested to see the loft to be honest

Whereas I always look in the loft on a first viewing. If the roof is shot or there are problems with a water tank I'd like to know as soon as possible.

Don't be too sure on that. My hot water tank in the bathroom had the same thing and it brought my kitchen ceiling down. I couldn't believe it. I would have thought it would've just evaporated it was so tiny, but nah, it had apparently all built up.

My house is fifteen years old, gas heating so no water tank up there.  Not much to see.  I suppose in an older house it would be very different
