Advice - what survey should I buy for a Leasehold flat?

Hi All -  Im buying a leasehold in an edwardian conversion, top floor. I need to arrange the survey, but as its leasehold, Im confused at what survey to buy? Would a homeownders be enough or do I need to get a buildings and structural? Im confused as I don't own the building? 
£4000 total debt... no savings debt free by September 2012!!!!:eek:

    You might not own the building, but if the building needs repairs, the freeholder can ask all the leaseholders to contribute to the repairs. The buildings insurance that all leaseholders pay towards should cover against subsidence. 


    I had a homebuyers survey done on a leasehold flat I bought as the building was relatively modern (built in 1970's). With an Edwardian property, I think you might benefit from a full structural survey.

    I'm in the process of buying and I got talked into getting a level 3 type survey which seems to be halfway between a homebuyers and a full structural survey.

    I may have been conned by fast marketing too :smile: as a FTB I feel like they can all see me coming

    To do a full structural the surveyor needs access to all parts of the property. The only access here will be the communal hallway and the top floor flat.

    A homebuyers report will flag up anything major (although it will also be full of caveats about lack of access to other parts of the building).
