Repair or not?

Had something similar to my Citroen Saxo... quotes for private repair were crazy and was about to PX so left it as was (the car had plenty of other issues that were already going to knock down the value)0

Yes that was my main worry - the cars a shopping cart not worth spending money on.

Surprised at people saying they'd leave it.
Seriously, you're willing to drive around in a car with damage like that?
Is your house the same, just a mess of unrepaired stuff??
Strange.1 -
The paint is broken top left and i'd also say its broken along that bottom edge. If left as is, rust will get in in no time.Tiexen said:Nobbie1967 said:If that’s the sill, would it be an issue for the MOT as it is damage to a structural area of the car. Certainly rust in that area is a fail.

You could scrape it back and touch it in, but its a point of weakness now the paint is broken.
If you plan on keeping the car forever and dont mind it then great. If you plan on ever trading it in or selling it, the cost of the repair will come off its value anyway so no "saving" to be made in not doing it.0 -
It’s a bit of filler and a rattle can job on an old car, definitely a DIY job.0

I wouldnt consider a 2013 car old...? I wouldnt be condemning it to fillers and a rattle car repairs for many years yet.Martin_the_Unjust said:It’s a bit of filler and a rattle can job on an old car, definitely a DIY job.1 -

Average age at scrapping in this country is just under 14. So it's not far short of 60% of the way through the average life expectancy.0 -

I'd be happy taking a tub of fillers and a rattle can to some old beater worth a few hundred but not to a 2013 car worth several thousand.0 -
An 8YO C1 is till very sellable to new drivers.
