Either will depend on her income, which is likely to be very low.
Her best bet may be to see what finance is offered by her chosen practice. But saving up is likely to be get best option if she doesn't want to go through the NHS.0

How much does she need to raise? Any substantial sum is unlikely if her only income is on benefits.
Why are the NHS not prepared to offer the procedure?0

she needs to raise about 15k or there about , her house is mortgage free i was thinking borrow against the house or remortgage to be honest , they wont do the operation now as they say shes too young 45 , the prospect of waiting 10/20 years is just not on the amount of pain and loss of mobility that she suffers
as i say she owns her property out right surly that goes some way to help ??0

But she still needs the income to make repayments.will8888 said:

I've known people younger than that have hip replacements on the NHS, I'd be seeking a second opinion or asking for alternative treatments before getting a loanwill8888 said:Good morning

Me too - a friend was having real trouble during her first pregnancy and came very close to having the op before the second baby she was planning (aged 35 at the time). For other reasons than age she didn't go ahead but it would have been done on NHS.annabanana82 said:I've known people younger than that have hip replacements on the NHS, I'd be seeking a second opinion or asking for alternative treatments before getting a loanI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Then she is not properly convincing the NHS of her needs. They will do it if it is necessary. I suggest that she askes to be re-assessed.will8888 said:she needs to raise about 15k or there about , her house is mortgage free i was thinking borrow against the house or remortgage to be honest , they wont do the operation now as they say shes too young 45 , the prospect of waiting 10/20 years is just not on the amount of pain and loss of mobility that she suffers

As others have said, you cannot borrow without an income to make payments. It doesn't matter what equity she has in her house as she cannot spend it.0

Can she sell up and buy a smaller property? That would release the cash she needs.0

She would have to see a consultant start the process again. So would need to pay for consultant fees. Likely be the the same consultant. If they determine it would be better on nhs then she would go to the back of queue and see a consultant before agreeing on op.
Also got to think of the aftercare costs like physio and after appointments.
How would she pay back the money if she is on benefits only.Mortgage free wannabe
