Hyperoptic WiFi Connection

Hi
Deleted as it seems irrelevant.
https://www.hyperoptic.com/help/router/
Manuals for the HyperOptic range of routers.
You may have split frequencies, that is 2 WI-FI bands, SSID as
ZTE_xxxxxxxx2.4 and ZTE_xxxxx5.0
Hopefully with the same passphrase/password.
Maybe you need to change the SSID to an old name as password on a GUEST network and try the devices then.
EG: VM_oldSSID and maybe pick-up some more devices.Forum, Agin 'em or Just Neutral?0 -

I have tried moving the laptop directly next to the router for a couple of hours with no luck - so I don't think it's too far away - and the lagging is definitely more than you would expect from a normal connection, it's pretty much unusable.
IT at work logged into my router remotely, played around with the settings and switched numerous times between 2.4GHz and 5GHz to no avail. They also deleted all devices off both connections except the work laptop but no luck either.
Skype and the RDP work perfectly on my personal Mac - it is undoubtedly an issue between the laptop and the router specifically. Perhaps a wired connection would work, but the router is quite far away from my desk so it's definitely not ideal. I also feel like in this day and age I should be able to contently work from home over WiFi without this kind of problem!
If you have a desk in a fixed location then by far the best option is to run an ethernet cable to the desk and it isn't that difficult to do.

Basics: have you tried changing the wi-fi channel to something less congested?
If ethernet is not practical because of distance, then I'd try a pair of Powerline Networking adaptors: these can be the type using ethernet from plug to laptop, or wi-fi if you prefer. But ethernet is always faster and far more stable. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
