Gas pipe/connection

Hi I hope you are well. Any gas experts on this forum? I'm trying to get an ECV and gas meter fitted however gas board wont fit these until the wall pictured is knocked down, surely they can twist the pipe around with an elbow or microstop to stop me knocking down the wall?

Could you get a local gas engineer to reposition the pipe first, then contact the gas board to get the meter fitted?

Is that the incoming gas main?  Are you in a flat and its continuing up to another flat?

Gas engineer can't work on the network before the emergency control valve - which hasn't been fitted yet.

Would it be possible to twist this pipe around even although its live?
  • 1. Only qualified people can work on it.
    2. As its a live main only the gas transporter can touch it.
    3. As they are screwed metal fittings, if you twist it, one side of the "tee" will tighten up and the other will loosen.  Loose = uncontrollable gas leak.
    4. You could probably get the gas board to alter it, but you'd be talking a lot of money.  Hundreds if not thousands.
