@BalanceBy50 - If there's one thing I know about, it is rescue cats costing money at the vets!
We are still sadly catless but I have left money in the Meow Fund, so as to be a bit more prepared when we adopt our next fur friend.

fed up - 3 times over the last week i have typed long posts and accidentally deleted them!!
Still here and intending to post daily. I got paid yesterday but not had time to do the money shuffle however I am spending far far too much on takeaway coffee, breakfast & lunch and I need to sort this! Candy crush spending habit has been crusged i believe so this is my next target 😁
Saving money on weekly shopping as i am on a mission to defrost our big garage freezer however was most disappointed this morning when I realised my bolognaise mix for tonight's lasagne was actually sausage casserole - don't fancy that today at all! I must label my batch cooking 🤦♀️2 -

Thanks jwil and it was all down to you guys and posting on this diary. Now to sort out my other less than ideal habits xjwil said:Well done on sorting the candy crush habit!2 -
Isn’t it easy to delete posts before posting…there was probably a collective wince from all MSE-ers who read that 😬. I have a habit of referring back to something mid post and then ‘!!!!!!’ the first part has gone when I return 🤣
Well done on candy crush crushing. Coffee should be an easyish one if you treat yourself to a very good to go cup that doesn’t leak and stays hot. I use Bodum, which I love, but it’s not 100% leak proof if you turn it upside down, so wouldn’t work if it was flung in a bag. At the very smallest step you could get it refilled when out and it should be cheaper than with a takeaway cup. If you don’t have a coffee machine at home I think the coffee bags look a great idea. It’s sometimes worth spending a bit to save a lot in my opinion…I would not ever want to suck the joy out of coffee 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Hi BB50
Thanks for stopping by to say hello. Totally agree with WinterWarrior about the collective wince when a post is accidentally deleted - very frustrating. I've heard of candy crush and know it's some sort of game but that's about it, but well done on sorting it out if it's costing you money. x

Thanks WW love your last line I would not ever want to suck the joy out of coffee 😂😂😂 I made a nice coffee at home this morning and brought it into the office. I intend to use the school holidays to work on my lunch purchases - only in the office 2 days a week so surely i can make something nice at home to take with me?WinterWarrior said:Isn’t it easy to delete posts before posting…there was probably a collective wince from all MSE-ers who read that 😬. Lovely to'see' you tea. Candy Crush is a game with in app purchases. I am trying to live by the rule 'would i let my boys spend money on this?' - 19/20 i say no to buying gaming currency so have applied this rule to myself - saving at least £20 a week! xxteafor2 said:Hi BB50

So another weekend gone by. I need to do my finances and move money from pots as I went to a big shopping centre and bought various items covered by different pots.
First day of the school holidays! How much is this going to cost me? I have childcare 2.5 days out of my 4 working days and hoping to do a bit from home but mainly have time with the boys. I also have 2 weeks off with various things planned. I am currently at work but finishing soon and taking the boys to the cinema this afternoon. We have already had the discussion about taking snacks from home and coming home for tea rather than a KFC! I am too soft with them but i could spend hundreds these holidays with very little to show! Its not happening - cinema is enough of a treat.
Eating out the freezer is going well - £70 surplus so far in the groceries account! We had a roast beef dinner yesterday - huge joint I bought for Christmas till Boris changed the rules ( understandably so) so left overs for DH for lunch and I have a lovely sandwich to look forward to. Also made a fish pie and a shepherds pie for tea tonight and tomorrow which will give DH leftovers for lunch on Tues & Weds! My oldest really wanted Pizza for tea yesterday (despite polishing off his beef dinner!) and as I have some in the freezer have told him he can have Pizza instead of fish pie!! xx2 -
Oh the cinema, how lovely! Or in Yorkshire speak ‘the pictures ’ 😬 What are you going to see?Taking snacks is so much more sensible, you can get a huge bag of popcorn and sharing sweets at the supermarket for a fraction of the price. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Hi BB50
£20 a week is a lot of money to spend but on the plus side it's now a lot of money you'll be saving
I get in a pickle with my pots sometimes. I used to take money from each of them when I went shopping but find it easier now to just pay myself back when I get home, unless it's a big purchase.
I think we can all relate to being soft with our children can't we. I always took snacks and drinks with me to the cinema but when they hit their teens they wanted things like nachos or hot dogs and weird drinks from behind the counter so it got harder.
I'd practically forgotten that Christmas was all but cancelled at the last minute, probably because we'd not planned to have anybody here anyway with Mum being ill. Enjoy the film and the roast beef sandwich
