Small business not delivering goods, now ignoring me

Options
Any advice would be great.

I purchased a dog run from a small U.K. business for approx £480 form his online shop.
This was back in March Of this yr, with delivery date to be 1st of April.

Delivery date .... nothing. No communication from their side. So I send an email asking where my order is.
A week late I get a response saying friend has died of Covid so order is delayed due to this and item will be delivered a month later than usual. I accept these things have an impact of small business so agree to new delivery date being 25th April. He confirms delivery has been booked via email.

Again date comes and no delivery. No communication from the company and now no response via email.

His Facebook seems to show a lot of other customers waiting deliveries with no response.

I’ve paid with debit card (yes I know credit card would of been better), online through his website. Is there a way to Get a refund As he is now ignoring emails.

Thanks
G

Have a read of this article on chargeback. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/visa-mastercard-chargeback/

  • VISA debit cards typically cover you for ordering online and not receiving the order, subject to your bank's T&Cs.

The supplier is to provide the goods within 30 days unless otherwise agreed, you agreed an extended timeframe which they've failed to meet so as far as I can see you are entitled to treat the contract at an end without penalty.

Have a chat with your bank is probably the easiest avenue.

Banks T/C play no part in Chargebacks. They are card regulations that both Banks & retailers sign up to. Covers both Visa & Mastercard. Would guess Amex as well, but they have their own way of doing things.

So Op can simply go to their bank and request a non receipt chargeback. On Visa you can start this after 15 days from Debit if goods have not arrived.
