Quotes I have for any work are usually good for three months. The only caveats are around material costs, and these are usually only a small percentage of the overall quote.
For a price to double within three days tells me that you have a pressure sell with an overinflated price.

wow ok thats high, i've 'just'  and i mean like an hour ago ordered the following.
    • 5 Sliding Sash windows in UPVC (All my windows are MUCH bigger than yours as mines a big only Victorian house and everything is big! i think the guy said they were 250 x 150 each, sashs are naturally more expensive it would have been cheaper to go with casement)
    • 3 casement windows (one of which is about 300cm by 400cm yes it's huge)
    Thats coming in a 5.5k ...
I did my Doors to PVC with the same company last yeah it cost me 1k for the back door which was pretty standard,  but the front door needed to be custom made because its also oversized! and even that was only 2.5k and it is truly beautiful!

Also i would never shop with a company thats going to change the price if i don't buy straight away,  if they want my service the least they can do is let me shop around so i can buy with confidence.

good price for 5 sliding sash and that biggy . If that's fitted too that's a very good price , are they leaving in the original timbers and inserting the frames or doing the whole kaboosh ? love big Victorian houses . esp with the shutters built into the original boxes

We have shutters on on of the downstairs windows, but there where removed from all the rest (which is sad :() , we replaced the windows in this one with the same company a few years ago and the did a nice job.

Sounds very expensive in my opinion to be honest. I would recommend shopping around as prices seem to vary greatly. I would recommend ShutterLab. Great work at the best price.

CR Smith have quoted me £14.5k to replace 8 windows and 2 doors, with the caveat that the price will rise to over £16k at the end of the month (just 3 days away).
That sounds a very high price. Even if the doors are high end composite doors say they are £2k each that means you are being charged £10.5k for 8 windows. My sister is having all her windows replaced in grey upvc and the cost is £4,800 for 11 windows and most of them are quite big windows. She has shopped around and is going with a local reputable company. The ‘offer’ this company is making you is just trying to pressure you to sign up quickly without looking at other companies. I’d recommend looking at local companies rather than national who will give you a fair price and without any sales pressure tactics been used.
