AutoAid Breakdown

Have been a customer for well over ten years. Maybe four callouts in that time. Never had to resort to getting transport home. Always been fairly prompt in getting someone there and in settling account. But price has increased considerably over the last four years. When I spoke to them earlier in April and pointed out that my mileage was a fraction of previous years for last year and almost certainly this year, was told mileage had nothing to do with premium which had remained the same as last year despite very little travel and certainly no long journeys. Woman was rather curt when I suggested premium should be less.
Found better cover at a lower price elsewhere as a result.
Strange approach to a long-standing customer!

When you took the policy on in previous years, did they ask your annual mileage? No.

Given their policies are personal, rather than car, how would they even know what mileage you covered?

For a breakdown policy, lower mileage might increase the probability of a claim / call out.  Think of the number of flat batteries in lockdown.

Autoaid today isn't the same company as Autoaid 10 years ago.

It might be usefull to some if you revealed where this better cover is to be found.

Don't know about the OP but I found StartRescue better - better price, better reviews.

AutoAid give a list of info needed in order to contact the Service Provider - such as "Membership Number"
I would be grateful if someone could confirm that the following number corresponds to "Membership Number":
    DAA  Nnn  MBnn

    where "n" represents a digit.

    Reason for asking:

I downloaded all the docs as specified in the AutoAid "Thank You" email. Unfortunately these docs contain many numbers, and many names such as Document Number, Membership Number, Policy Number, Client Reference.

Unfortunately, one name can match several numbers, and one number can match several names.

For example, the number at the start of my post is also known as "Client Reference".

    Thanks

My Membership Schedule records the "Membership/Policy Number" in the format ABCD1234567, the number recorded in the format you have queried above (DAA  Nnn  MBnn) corresponds to my Client Reference.

Thanks for the info. It looks as if the 4-letter+7-digit number is needed for the Service Provider. If they don't recognize it, I'll give the DAA number.

Autoaid is only good value for married couples,  and/or more than 1 vehicle. Lots of better value if not.
