Yes I’m hoping my case is straightforward and I don’t need an interview with the OR. It’s been 3 weeks now and I’ve still not heard anything, have you?Mart7379 said:
On Friday I received a couple of documents via email to sign and return, have signed them today and intend to email back to them later once my wife returns home from picking up our daughters birthday presents as she needs to ‘witness’Locsoc said:
I submitted mine 2 weeks ago and received the approval email the following day too.Mart7379 said:Wow, that was quick, submitted my application around 15.30 yesterday 21st April, received approval at 09.30 this morning 22nd April 👍👍
I am now officially bankrupt and effectively debt freeStill haven’t had any contact/interview with the official receiver yet, not sure if that’s a good think or not!Good luck
Anyway, with you saying you hadn’t heard anything for 2 weeks, I did notice in the documents I had received. They only need to ring if they require further information in regards to your application, even then they might only contact via email. If your application is straight forward they probably didn’t need to discuss anything. Either that or they have a backlog of Bankruptcies to get through0 -
I had an email the day after my bankruptcy order was issued to sign some documents but not heard anything else since but only just been a week since my bankruptcy order was issued.Locsoc said:

Personally rather not speak with them, but if I have to I will, I have nothing to hide. So should be straight forward.1 -
I have just been reading on the Citizens Advice website that ‘The official receiver must be in touch within 10 working days of the Bankruptcy order being issued’ so if your still waiting. Chances are they don’t need to speak to you.Locsoc said:

That's interesting to know. They say no news is good news, you're now on the road to recovery

Yes it is, but is the citizens advice website upto date??As I said before I’d rather not have to speak with them, but will if/when the time comes as I have nothing to hide.
I have struggled with debt for quite a while. Since my younger years if I am honest, being able to now say I’m effectively debt free is a fantastic feeling0 -
I’m the same, I’d rather not speak to them if possible, I hate talking on the phone I don’t think my anxiety would cope very well but if they need to speak to me I’m sure I’ll just have to suck it up! Maybe they’re really busy at the moment?Mart7379 said:Yes it is, but is the citizens advice website upto date??As I said before I’d rather not have to speak with them, but will if/when the time comes as I have nothing to hide.

yeh my anxiety is a factor as well, and depression. But i guess it’s just a process, I’m sure they aren’t dragons and are out to try and catch you or me out. It is what it is. At the end of the day though, we are debt free.I know the OR has been in touch with my bank accounts as I have had a couple of text alerts from some banks that my account is frozen, so there is movement. How long after you were declared bankrupt did you stop being bombarded by your creditors, I’m still getting a few emails filtering though but as I said earlier it’s only been just over a week. Actually tempted to send a copy of my bankruptcy order to my debts myself.0

10 days was the target for interviews many years ago. Not sure if target changed, or if there is delay due to covid1

Yes I’ve had some of my accounts frozen too, and I’m now on the insolvency register and in The Gazette so yes there is definitely movement.Mart7379 said:yeh my anxiety is a factor as well, and depression. I’d usually avoid their calls but I’m answering them now as there is nothing they can do once they know you’re bankrupt, one lady on the phone actually apologised for contacting me and wished me luck!0 -
Yeh I have had a few emails, no phone calls as none of them have my number.Locsoc said:

My name appeared on the insolvency register a day after I got my bankruptcy order. I’m sure it’s in the gazette as well, I haven’t looked. Pretty sure they’ll hate my case at the OR’s office though as a lot of my debts were credit card and catalogue debts but they all mounted up………. So probably taking them a while to get the letters sent out
I was lucky and managed to get a charity I pay into to pay my bankruptcy fee, they wished me luck, and I have actually had messages from one of my bank accounts wishing me luck with it all.I’m sure they understand people fall into difficulty and people enter into insolvency solutions. Don’t think it really bothers them when they all constantly report millions or billions of pounds of profit yearly.0
