JulieRight said:hi,
I've opened a shares account at Hargreaves but I was shocked at all the charges...
First they charge a fee to buy the stock. Then they charge a currency conversion fee, and some other fees too.
I'm down 200 pound just after buying the stock.
is there a cheaper broker out there?
I'm used to using trading212 and it's much cheaper imo so looking for a similar low cost broker. Is Deigro any better / cheaper?Fees for buying/selling stocks are normal, it's Freetrade and trading 212 that are unusual.Likewise FX fees, and custody fees. Here's a list of brokers. https://monevator.com/compare-uk-cheapest-online-brokers/Study the charges well, and confirm them on the broker's website before signing up.
