Seriously, one letter is not a complete change of identity! I know that I've cashed cheques to me in the past that were made out to a completely alternative spelling of my name.

I have had a lot of Mail go astray recently so I decided to put in multiple claims with royal mail so as to be compensated.
To my astonishment, a few days later I received 5 cheques in the post totaling £90.
So I thought, this is to good to be true, I was expecting a few lousy 1st class stamps.
Anyways I went to cash the cheques and soon realised that Royal Mail had mispelt my name on them.
I was beside myself, I mean what a joke that the idiots can't even spell someone's name.
When I filled out the online claims I clearly spelt my name as "JON" and on the cheques it reads "JOHN".
I can guarantee on my life that this was a mistake that was purposeful.
I know this because I phoned royal mail and explained to them that they had completely ruined the cheques and a lady on the other end stated:-
"That's awfully strange as the claim forms are automatically uploaded by computer and all the correspondence is computerised".
Therefore someone in the claims department has manually purposely added a "H" to my name.
I am not thick and I know 100% that when I done the claims I had No "H" in my name.
The woman on the phone was speaking as if I was at fault and Not them.
I thought it was too good to be true and it would seem it was.
Royal mail are refusing to block the cheques and send new ones unless I send the cheques back to them with an accompanying letter.
It took 7 days from claim to receipt of cheques then its going to take 3 days for them to receive them back and then 3 days to receive the New ones and then 2 days for me to get to the bank to Pay them in and then 3-5 days to have them clear.
It's just an outrage.
Why can't they just pay my money as bank transfer instead of all this rubbish.
It's a farce and royal mail have done this on purpose so to delay my claim.
I have an online account with royal mail and they know my name and address because they deliver 50 items a week to me.
I'm Not Happy.
You would guarantee on your life that is was purposeful? Why would you even think that?
What would be the purpose of them delaying your claim in this way considering that they will now incur extra costs in staffing to review your complaint, receive and process the cheques back and then produce new ones so it costs them more for no benefit.3 -

I’m amazed you’re brave enough to reveal what’s going on; have you checked to see if there are any black helicopters over you house?5 -
Am I the only one that can think of several reasons as to why a simple mistake might have been taken.

I’m not happy either. I’ve got a cheque from Royal Mail and I’m absolutely livid to see that they have deliberately spelt my name correctly. An absolute scam.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
