Drainage insurance

I’m covered by my building insurance for drainage for accidental damage but not for wear and tear. Is it worth getting separate drainage insurance?

Insurance policies never cover wear and tear. You need a maintenance contract for that. Wear and tear isn't usually a problem in drainsI am not a cat (But my friend is)0

Do you have particular issues that make it sensible to insure your drainage?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. No issues I’m aware of but in my previous house I had drain problems due to bad workmanship by previous owner. The waste pipe under the patio split and had to have it properly done at cost of over 1k.dunstonh said:Do you have particular issues that make it sensible to insure your drainage?
The waste pipe in my present house which I bought 6 weeks ago seems in good condition and have no blockage so far but I don’t want to fork out large sum of money for similar situation.0 -
It's not a normal insurance situation so cover will be expensive, and they don't cover wear and tear anyway.Slips36 said:

Just put a bit away each month just in case if you're worried.0 -
Insurance companies usually have terms that exclude problems caused by bad workmanship (or allegedly bad workmanship). I had a wall that had stood up fine for 35 years but was blown down in a gale 6 years ago. The insurance company refused to pay anything, quoting "bad workmanship" in the construction of the wall.Slips36 said:I had drain problems due to bad workmanship by previous owner.

£1 a month? They’ve just sent my mum’s renewal quote at £24.71 a month, nearly a 50% increase on the previous year, so I’m looking for cheaper options for her.Scrounger said:Homeserve plumbing and drainage cover @ £1/month:
