Well, due to the agent working from home today the potential employer couldn't get in touch with them.

    BUT!

    They have emailed me directly.

And I didn't get the job.

    BUT!

He has said they are creating a brand new role. He mentioned this during the interview. He is modifying the job description based on the what I told him about the work I did at my previous employer! And the guy wants to speak to me on Monday about it! YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! :j :T :D

Of course I don't know what is going to follow this. It isn't 100% guaranteed I'd get this job. But the very fact he is moulding the role based on what I've done has to be a good sign, doesn't it?

Well the news is promising, but I have to wait.

They are creating a new role based on the work I was doing in my previous employment. However, due to HR rules he has to make the job available internally for a week, and then he MUST advertise it externally. I'll be considered much like anyone else, but obviously as this role is being tailored based on my skills & experience I should get it fairly easily. I actually emailed him some stuff to put in the job description yesterday! ;)

Of course the problem is that an internal candidate might apply, and might do well enough to get it.

So I'll find out more next Monday.

The really positive thing is that he believes I'd be an excellent hire for the company, and if for some reason I don't get this job he would speak to other senior managers within the company to try and find me a position.

With the job I didn't get... He thought I was too senior for it and thought I'd want more of a challenge than it would give me! He has got someone else in mind for it. His ideal outcome would be me getting the new job, and this other person getting the original job.

We'll see what happens next Monday....
  • Well all in all it sounds good, and certainly very flattering. So if nothing else take a confidence boost from it that someone very obviously thinks you are brilliant at what you do. I think that is worth a lot Squiffy. Also, if he is making the role out to you I find it quite unlikely that an internal candidate will match the description and skillbase like you do. Even if they apply, seeing that he already knows you it's not like he thinks "Oh I'll go the easy way" because at the end of the day the role is a new one because of you. That's what I think anyway, but I have been accused in the past of being too optimistic ;-)
I am still crossing fingers for you anyway. You sound like you will be alright Squiffy *hug*
