Well done Squiffy - congrats on your new job.
I have just read your thread for the first time and feel very pleased for you. I was made redundant last year - and it is true what they say - "it happens for a reason" and look at where you are now - a lot better off? Financially and emotionally. Good luck in reducing your debts.0 -
So whats happening now Squiffy??
Your not going to contact anyone and just pay your debts off and not get too badly in debt in the future as youve learnt your lesson??
Good luck in new job!0 -

Thanks for the best wishes everyone. :beer:delboypass wrote:Your not going to contact anyone and just pay your debts off and not get too badly in debt in the future as youve learnt your lesson??
Yes, I gave myself until the end of this month to find a job before I cancelled direct debits, rang creditors, offered token payments, etc.
As it is I will have a fairly big chunk of redundancy cash to make a big hole in the debt. I will in the next few days pay off £21k from the debt on the two highest APR debts.
I think my start date is going to be the 8th August, so I won't have a full months wage until the end of September. At that point I will know what my income is, will know what my outgoings will be, and can then re-do my snowball accordingly. Any cash left from the redundancy & investmen trust will then be put towards the other debts.
The lesson has definitely been learnt.

Well, got my start date for new job on Monday 15th. I did have to go through a credit check before my offer was confirmed, but that went through fine. Luckily I never cancelled any DDs or missed any payments during my period of redundancy!
I've paid off some of the highest APR stuff, and updated my signature to reflect new amount outstanding and DFD. Since March I've now reduced the debt by nearly 30k, and have moved my DFD forward by 28 months. :j0 -
Well done Squiffy! Absolutely delighted for you! Wonderful news!
Please keep posting as how you tackle the remaining debt will no doubt inspire others, as your postings to date already have!
:T :T :TIf it was easy, everyone would do it!0
