Join a club for your vehicle they often have discounted schemes.

Can you recomend a club please?

That rather depends on what cars you have.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Try some of the multicar insurers.  Aviva and LV have both given me decent deals - a discount to reflect the lower risk.
    What is LV?
Liverpool Victoria.  But these days they advertise themselves as LV.
It's only 14 years since they rebranded in 2007...

Sometimes multi car works cheaper, sometimes 2 different policies. Try different options, I've found sometimes no NCD is cheaper depending on the car so you may not need to mirror NCD.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Sometimes the multi-car policies are a bit sneaky.  For the first year, they are cheaper.  When renewal comes round, the price for the first car is good, but they hike the price up when the second is due.

This is an issue that makes me nutty. I have 2 vehicles but as a single person trying to insure the 2nd vehicle using my 20 years of NCD, I was told I could not use the NCD on both vehicles, it had to be one or the other.  Surely I can only drive the one vehicle at a time?  And to suggest that the one sitting at home on the driveway could be stolen at the same time as I crash the one I am driving, is a tad unlucky even for me!  When I got breakdown cover I could make that personal and it went with me and not the vehicle so surely MY NCD should go with me and not the vehicle, after all the vehicle I am holding the NCD on, having changed my car a couple of times in the 20 years, is not the one in which I gained the NCD, so by the logic of the insurance company then NCD should restart if you change your car.
I tried a multicar policy which made the insurance for two cars a little more expensive but less so than insuring the 2 separately, right up until I changed my main vehicle and the insurance company wrote to tell me that the insurance policy was therefore cancelled and none of my vehicles were insured and I had to re-insure from the start.  (Hastings Direct-one I now avoid even though they come up cheap on the comparison sites)
So, this time I insured both separately and for the 2nd I used a broker. A saving of around £250 on the £800 that the comparison sites wanted for the 2nd vehicle. Cheaper but still double what I pay for a single vehicle!  And for comparison the 2nd vehicle I was trying to insure was an 11 year old runabout. On another note, if you do have insurance for 2 vehicles do not buy the 'optional extra' Legal cover as it cannot be interchanged so you have to have it on each policy. However, I bought the breakdown cover on 'personal' and legal cover could be added as an additional extra on this and thus can be used on either vehicle! This alone saved me over £65.

And only 2 years since LV sold its general insurance business to Allianz

Correct. That's the way NCB works. Always has done.

No, because there's continuity of a single policy, a single risk.
