Creative Labs - broke mp3 player

any drop is extreme shock.think about the scale.drop something like an mp3 player 2 feet.
now imagine letting your vhead drop the same distance with no bracing to stop yourself.
especially items like hard drive mp3 players just dont like impacts
I'm not going to try it, but ... Ouch! xGone ... or have I?0 -
It sounds like you've been very unlucky. I bought the exact same model over a year ago, and it has survived a lot of abuse - including being dropped when gettting off a bus and sliding across the floor quite a distance, and being dropped while running, onto concrete.
I'm a fan of creative and have always found their stuff very hard-wearing.
You say that two have broken now - was the other one dropped too?
I'd keep protesting, politely, to them - one foot onto carpet shouldn't have broken it IMO.
I agree with the suggestion to try Amazon too - you will probably have more joy for a refund there.DFW Nerd No. 140

I think creative have been pretty good by offering a discount for what is technically your fault0

I wouldn't touch Creative with a ten foot pole! I ended up having THREE in a total of six months as they kept breaking. Ended up getting an ipod cos I was sick of having to take them back every few months and had no trouble with that until a bottle of water leaked in my bag...
Did you know that leaked water gravitates to ipods and nothing else in your bag?"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Well I think thos giving the OP hassle should cut him/her some slack, because dropping an MP3 player 1 foot onto a CARPET should not break it, and it's a blatent design fault!!
I'd try and get a refund with amazon, or email creative and demand that they repair it!!
My Iriver did something similar, but iriver were fantastic and repaired it free of charge, despite it being 18 months old.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
I don't get the ...
I bought a Zen Vision M 60GB off Amazon - I used my mum's credit card -I want my mum to get her money back (about £160)
So the Mum bought it or the OP hasn't paid their Mum the money they spent on her card?0 -
How do you drop things less than a foot onto carpet unless you have extremely long arms?0
-
Easy, knock off coffee table, chair etc. Daughter does it all the timeI'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I have had a creative zen for about 4 years and i Still use it an awful lot.
When I have dropped mine, (or if the battery has come loose, or if it has locked up so i took the battery out to reset it) it comes up in recovery mode. Depending on how much space you have used it can take a while. I have about 5Gb used and it takes a good few minutes to sort everything out again.
What happens when you try to turn it on now? If it says reorganising library (or something similar cos i cant remember) just leave it until it has completed.
Or does it do something else? I might be able to help cos i have had a couple of problems with mine which i have fixed.
