Herbal remedy 'better than drugs at treating depression'
and
The extensive use of hypericum in Germany (sixty-six million daily doses in 1994) has not resulted in medical reports of serious drug interactions or even toxicity after accidental overdose.
The reports on the photoxicity of St Johns wort arose because a cow strayed into a field of St Johns wort and ate and ate and as it was sunny did suffer the effects of photoxicity.
I don't think anyone has ever suggested eating a field full of the stuff. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

There is a thread in Old Style as Ted suggested: Cheap as ... er ... Soya Mince
From that thread I bought some soya mince from Sainsbury's for 59p (200g which, when rehydrated = 800g) Have a read through it and if it still hasn't answered your questions, reply to it asking what you would like to know.

Also you must always tell your GP or other medical professional if you're taking it if s/he's wanting to prescribe anything else. This is just general good advice about all these vits and minerals and supplements we swallow: we tend to think they don't matter too much because we're self-medicating, but we must think they have some effect on our bodies or we wouldn't take them! And there may be other effects we just don't know about. For example, I've been advised to stop taking Cod Liver Oil before surgery as it thins the blood, and that Glucosamine can react with a lot of things.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I Think you guys are all wonderful. I am 42 and one of the 1 in 20 women who start menopause early. This is the third month of no period, I am having moodswings, hot flushes and night sweats and it can make life misreable.
I can really relate to the person who started the thread - its like your body hijacks you and you are not like your normal self.
I am normally a very positive upbeat and happy person. My partner of four years has just ended the relationship because he 'cant relax around me anymore' and trying to do my job (I am a trainer) is difficult when your mental functioning is impared and you get all flushed and hot. My teenager says I moan all the time. Its a bit like having PMT all the time.
Also its triggered a 'mid life crisis - I though this twas a thing of fiction but its not. Menopause means not having any more children (not that I wanted another), quality of skin texture and hair texture deteriorating and it feels like getting old.
Before you all commit hari kari reading this I want to add that I am on the natural route to beating these symptoms and they are already easing to some extent. I am also taking time to nurture and pamper myself and to go for walks - its all helping. The stuff above is all great - have just orederd black cohosh and red clover, thanks to the guy who recommended the Zip Vit site - and to the gentleman wo posted about the HRT cake - You are lovely!
thanks a million

Morning/evening menopausal formula relieves menopausal symptoms: a pilot study.morning capsule contains panax ginseng, black cohosh, soy, and green tea extracts; evening capsule contains black cohosh, soy, kava, hops, and valerian extracts) as this is American research you probably won't be able to find this precise mix but you may be able to find a similar combination or using mix&match by taking the individual supplements suggested at the appropriate times. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

There is so much to do, the house and garden are going to the dogs (like myself _pale_ ) and there has been so much expense this year.....old car finally gave up the ghost, had to replace fridge, washing machine, shed roof just to mention a few.
HRT is an absolute no-no for me and over-the-counter stuff is so expensive. I want to be that happy life-loving person that I used to be. Does anyone know of any old-style effective remedies that I could try? Please? Before I burst into tears?
I have just gone through the menopause with no symptoms at all.
I did start taking one a day evening primrose oil capsules when I was quite young, maybe that has been good for me,anyway it's worth a try,no chemicals involved.
Good luck.0
