You have to fit the wheels to brackets supplied seperately then fit the brackets to the heater whilst it is upside down.bobdauilda wrote: »Sorry but can I ask how on Earth you had it upside down when there are wheels on the bottom?
When you turn it upside down, you can hear air gurgling up, so the fins are not fully filled with oil, hence if you switch it on upside down, the elements (in base) would not be immersed and hence overheating problems.
Seems you get what you pay for.
The thermostat is very basic and only clicks in when turned over half way up from min, even in a room temperature of 3 degrees!. They get very hot and then switch off, without raising room temp very much, so stat works more on unit temp rather than room temp.
I would not recommend use with childeren around.ac's lovechild0 -

The instructions don't state clearly that you are not supposed to operate the heater upside down.
All they say is that you are supposed to turn it upside down, put the castors on, and then turn it the right way up.
It does say you should not operate it in unstable and uneven places, and use it only in an upright position, but that is obvously not clear enough for many people who might buy it, and so the company should definitely recall the lot.
In other news, coffee may be hot, and bags of nuts may contain nuts.0 -
Just to clarify - at no point did I operate mine upside down: it was upended briefly in order to fit wheels, then placed the right way up on an even floor. Within just a few minutes it was belching thick smoke into a still-cold room. Afterwards the entire surface of the radiator was blackened and burnt.
I don't remember any gurgling noises when inverting to fit the wheels, and so on balance there may be an issue with absent or insufficient oil in one or more batches - seems to me that this is the most likely explanation anyway.0 -

For all you who have bought any of these heaters and probably not checked the link again there is some information added to the HUKD thread
FOLLOWING FURTHER DISCUSSION IN THE THREAD, IT SEEMS THIS PRODUCT IS SUBJECT TO AN OVER-HEATING FAULT, WHICH MAY RESULT IN FIRE.
WHILE THIS MAY APPEAR TO BE A HOT DEAL, IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM.

Mine were ok but I was unhappy with them re shoddy quality and problems many other buyers have had so got in touch with CS and have just received the following reply:

Thank you for your response.
We are recalling the items but would advise that you return if you are in
any way concerned.
The full returns procedure is as listed in the previous reply. As advised,
a collection can be booked once you have an RMA reference.
Kind Regards

I suggest that EVERYONE send them back FOC.0 -
Mine's is fine, I read the instructions and made sure I understood them, then I fitted the castors and the plates, then I turned it the right way up, letting it gurgle for a minute, then I went away and did something else, then I came back and switched it on. It heated up and it didn't go on fire.
I think following the instructions and turning it the right way up instead of leaving it upside down was very much central to it not going on fire.
The person in the HKUD forum who posted "do not use this thing, it will kill you and all your friends and family and devastate your town" posted that message without actually having turned on his heater. He read the posts on that forum from a couple of hysterical ninnies who didn't understand that you have to set the heater up and then turn it the right way up instead of leaving it upside down, and now he's started a panic.
But please, ask the vendor for a full refund and your postage costs. :silenced:0
