They've been a member of this forum for longer than you.
    Which proves what?

A scam. I would never go to Dubai they have no concept of the rule of law. They still throw people in jail for debts, mind you we used to do that in dem olden days.

The reason why your friend is convinced it is legit is that he/she is probably having money problems and so desperately wants this to be true. It is not. It is nonsense.

Well let me explain what happened!
A friend of mine sent this message to me asking me to go to Dubai with him.
Believe It or not he's an intelligent man who believed  this company he had engaged was genuine and it had won the court case to reclaim his lost money from a previous scam!
He also convinced me this was real
    (how stupid was I?)

2 days ago we travelled to Manchester Airport (legal as its business travel) and of course we didn't get on a plane to Dubai. No tickets or boarding passes had been sent despite them convincing my friend they would be emailed over. Then eventually said someone was meeting us at the airport with them.
Obviously that didn't happen and my friend was devastated.
He had paid for a business class flight for me to Dubai - over 2k.
He also paid up front 10% of the supposed total amount they'd won for him in fees.
That was a few months ago and he didn't mention that to me until the invite to Dubai. He also paid insurance to this company in case anything went wrong!! .
He's gutted and humiliated. He sent us both on a wild goose chase to Manchester. We paid for Covid fit to fly tests and travel insurance and did a lot of running around last week!
We know they're scammers now and I can't believe I fell for it too.
My friend never asked me for a penny. He's licking his wounds now and I feel very sorry for him and have since looked up how he can legitimately try to recover his lost funds.
To top it all these scammers now have scans of our passports and addresses.
I've contacted action fraud who have given me advice on how to protect myself from identity fraud.
I'm shocked my friend was do easily duped but just as bad that I fell for it too!
Tell me I'm stupid for going along with this too.
I believed him as I'd already said because he's an intelligent man who seemed to be savvy where financial matters were concerned

In a way you should count yourself lucky.  Sometimes this scam is that you will get your tickets, but you need to send us X% up front (guess what they use to buy tickets with).  You then fly out and a car picks you up at the airport and takes you to a lovely hotel (booked for one night using the money you sent).

You then meet this person you have never met before - that usually does not end well.  You will find there is no more hotel, no return flights and you probably will be left with no passports, no credit cards, no money and empty bank accounts ... and even at that you should consider yourself to be lucky.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

You initially posted over 2 weeks ago.
Didn't you feed back the comments you received on here to your friend?

You said in your first post that you didn't trust the email. Why did you then 'fall for it'?
Why did you agree to go?

Your friend is sadly just another in a long line of people who have been scammed in some way or another.

By the way - your friend owes me £20k

Can he just log on his computer - install TeamViewer/AnyDesk, let me connect to him and then go and buy some Amazon gift cards and give me the redemption codes

I'm sure he will be willing to help clear this debt as a matter of urgency

    Thanks

So let me get this right, you posted asking for advice and at some point before the next post your friend had bought the tickets to Dubai and paid out other costs ?
