no im not. ok, thanks. ive left feedback with amazon urging them to put a warning box on all products from overseas that extra import fees may be incurred. I've noticed ebay have them, albeit down below underneath lots of other info so you still have to look for it0

Over £135 the vendor doesn't have to register with HMRC and VAT is dealt with at import
Under £135 the vendor has to register with HMRC and add VAT to the bill
Both ways the OP has to pay VAT, the only difference is that in the higher category is that a courier will charge for doing clearing for you but you can pre-clear the item yourself if you know how to do the paper work etc at no cost to you (beyond the taxes)
The big difference from the retailers perspective is not having to registered with HMRC and do quarterly returns if the set a minimum sale for UK deliveries to above £1351 -
