Returns advice on damaged item, delivered 8 months ago

Hi, Sorry not sure where this topic should go, i thought here because it is COVID related?
I bought a bathroom suite from VictoriaPlumb 8 months ago, with the plan to have it installed ASAP. Due to COVID our plumbers were unable to fit. So the suite has remained untouched in my garage. The plumbers went to install it on Saturday, and inspected it. They found that the bath has been scratched and there is a dent on the Shower Guard.
I have been intouch with Victoria Plumb who advised as it is over 8 months they will not do anything - other then a partial credit.
If we want to return it for a refund, we have to pay to return it ourselves, then get a store credit.
The other alternative is to buy a replacement bath - something we really can't afford to do. The suite cost us nearly £700.
Does anyone know if there is anything I can do? or where do I stand?

The terms of supply would have been clear. Failure to inspect the goods upon receipt is down to you. Seems you've been offered a reasonable settlement.oliverhandley said:If we want to return it for a refund, we have to pay to return it ourselves, then get a store credit.6 -
You should have inspected it when you received it.oliverhandley said:Hi, Sorry not sure where this topic should go, i thought here because it is COVID related?I bought a bathroom suite from VictoriaPlumb 8 months ago, with the plan to have it installed ASAP. My guess is you stand next to a slightly dented and scratched bathroom build.
£700 is peanuts for a bathroom, count yourself lucky.0 -
If they are offering you a full store credit for returning it, even though it's damaged, then they are being incredibly generous. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You may have some leeway for claiming, given the current circumstances, but I'd say 8 months is far too long.
I had an issue with Currys with an oven, where it was damaged. I didn't initially unpack it and the only way I was able to resolve it was to start a small claims action. That was less than a month however, not eight. It was a lesson for me - to check things on arrival.

Waiting 8 months is far too long, regardless of reason1

Look at it from their point of view, they won't be able to claim from the courier for damage in transit now.
