Looking for Advice - Parking Ticket issued

Hi Guys, just wondering if my recent parking ticket from CPS was worth challenging or just paying early. £100 down to £60 in 14 days.

As soon as we were allowed outside last week (My partner is just about to start to learn to drive) we went out and found a carpark (entertainment complex) that was open and empty at around 9pm at night. We stopped the car put the L plates on and he proceeded to drive around the carpark for about 40 minutes. We swapped drivers back around took the L plates off and returned home.

We then (yesterday) get a parking ticket from CPS who "manage" this carpark apparently with a phone of us entering at one time and leaving at another. Quite obviously not "parked" as the car was just stopped while the driver change happened not parked in a bay.

From my point of view i can not remember seeing a parking meter but assume there was one( i need to go back and look at the signage). It was dark with minimal lighting and the last time i previously visited this complex it had no parking restrictions ( albeit that was about 4 years ago).

Now I feel hard done to to be honest and I know we have since revisited the carpark again and am probably expecting another fine in the next few days from 3 days after the first incident but don't know whether it is worth challenging or not as i technically was on "their carpark" but wasn't using it to park.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Must be UK cps , not cps , an IPC member in this case

Read the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum , third thread down

Chances are that there were no PDT machines , probably used ANPR or MNPR cameras

The place would have been closed so no vehicles allowed , there will be signs to form a contract

Yes you could appeal , any appeals will be rejected , no matter what is written in them

Never enter private property without complying with the signs in future , cameras are everywhere

    Hello and welcome.

Where exactly did this 'parking event' take place?

You need to send the blue text template appeal easily found in the first post of the NEWBIES thread.

Send it unchanged - no additions or alterations needed.

    Send it as the keeper.

To find the NEWBIES thread go back to that screen where you found the New Thread button a few minutes ago.
You are looking for a thread on the list of threads found there with the word NEWBIES in capitals in the thread title. It is one of the first five threads on that list. Not difficult to find at all.
  • Sorry I read some of the newbies thread and found it a bit confusing hence the post. Yes i think it was ANPR but the barriers were left wide open to enter and leave so never thought about it being private property or closed. And it was festival park entertainment complex (mega bowl, Odeon, Lazer quest, billiards etc..

It's private property when it's not public roads or council car parks , especially when it's an entertainment or retail complex , but also airports , stations , ports , hospitals , supermarkets , zoos , theme parks , etc

If the police or council are not enforcing on the land , then one of scores of private parking companies will be monitoring the site and issuing enforcement notices

You need pictures of the signs , without getting another pcn

Any retail or entertainment car park is private land.  Tesco car parks are private land - you park on private land every week when you shop - it has no special meaning, just means not a Council car park.

Of course there wasn't a parking meter (machine) as a retail./entertainment complex won't be pay and display.

Which 'CPS' are you talking about (full name of company please)?   We are NOT telling you to contact them nor pay it.

You really need to wise up and teach new drivers NEVER EVER to drive into private car parks (i.e. any car park) unless you have business there/are shopping/using the facilities because they pretty much all have PPC scammer cameras waiting to capture you for £100 a pop (at the moment...although the Government wants to put that down to £50 - quite right too).

Read the newbies thread, as instructed.
while it doesn't cover driving round and round and round it does cover vehicles in motion and not being parked

    Also who is the landower?
