ANPR Overstay - LIDL & PE - Genuine Shopper Clause?
Comments
-
IMHO, ParkingEye are a moneygrabbing monster of a company who (I'd say) unjustifiably use ANPR 24/7. Retailers fall for their spiel about 'rich data' and 'improving footfall' with a 'parking space maximisation scheme' and Supermarkets are among the most clueless who lap it up, with no idea what is actually happening to their customers until it is too late (look what happened to Somerfield in ParkingEye v Somerfield).
This approach is excessive and works to the detriment of shoppers' interests. PPCs are responsible for consumer misery and should hang their heads in shame for what they do and how they go about it. Such firms drive people away from town centres & shops and are long overdue the regulatory framework coming this greedy industry's way in the coming months from the Government.
You can't have a sustainable business model that sets out to penalise people, such that consumers shoulder the entire cost of your business, but PPCs have, and must be pushed into a more acceptable contractor position, being paid by landowners, not rinsing victims who were just going about their daily lives and saw no 'contract'.
However, they have had that policy (cancelling PCNs for genuine shoppers) for a good few years and I'd be surprised if your explanation about shopping for 2 families, plus a decent size receipt, doesn't work.
That doesn't make it a good thing. IMHO it means the PCN should never have been issued and the business model is horrific.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I agree with CM, they would be foolish not to cancel. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.1

I can't zoom in close enough, but from a distance the signs in the car park (which I assume are parking signs) don't much look like PE ones. Generally, PE signs are yellow and black, whereas at this site they have a light blue top, the remainder being in white.KeithP said:This is a very new store. Whilst GoogleStreetView shows the brand new shop on Shirley Road, the view of the car park entrance on Villiers Road just shows a cleared building site.
But looking from Shirley Road, or from above, it does appear that Lidl are the only occupiers. Can we get some photos of the signs where we can read the text please @OP?Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. The T & C on that sign are more suitable for the commissioning of an aircraft carrier than for parking in a food store, read this,

Awful sign.
Also hard to see how ANPR can look for blue badges...3 -
New livery cf what I've seen previously. Definitely a new PE logo near the foot of the sign. Looks like a bent halo above it - Freudian perhaps?

Doesn't that fail the Beavis test when compared to the black and yellow signage? From the Plain Language Commission:
