I don't think that the number of blemishes or cracks makes any difference to the repair price from places like Chipsaway as they seem to have a fixed price per panel irrespective of the amount of work required.
They gave me an estimate over the phone from me describing the damage.0 -
Unfortunately I live on the Isle of Wight and don't have a Chipsaway places where I am.David713 said:I don't think that the number of blemishes or cracks makes any difference to the repair price from places like Chipsaway as they seem to have a fixed price per panel irrespective of the amount of work required.

How much is it to repair the bumper damage would you imagine?AdrianC said:
Yes, perfectly normal.Samjef11 said:
Thanks so it sealant by the looks of it is it normal for the manufacturer to put it in the boot or is it something as a result leak or rear damage?Stubod said:..can't comment on the spider cracks, maybe the result of some localised damage(?), and the "welding" looks more like a sealant to me?
Every welded seam on the bodyshell gets sealed to stop water getting between the two pieces of metal and rotting out from the inside.
No, they don't bother painting the bits you don't normally see.
Perhaps. Perhaps not. Depends on if you touch-park or get hit by flying stones.Samjef11 said:So not alot i can do the front plastic bumper will keep getting those spiderweb like cracks won't it itunsightly
But not so bad that you noticed pre-purchase.the car costed £7350
At most, 40% of the list price of a new one, then...and was part exchange by a elderly gentleman.
There y'go. Touch-parking.
Don't forget to weigh up the cost of any repair against the sods law that the day after its repaired, it gets damaged!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)1 -
I don't live on the IoW, but one of these may be able to help:

OP
The sealer, it is used on all cars from new
you have a very popular car and therefore I would ask a friend ects help ie have a fieta like yours - then compare the seals etc - from that you may be able to get a better picture but be aware the friends car may have been in a crash. - you do get over sprays etc and wonky sound matts as factor workmanship is only as good as the person doing it.
Years go Mr J's family members xj was rear ended he was not happy with the repair got fobbed off, then compared with another xj and notted sound proof and some sealant was missing and got it fixed properly.0 -
At least you checked on here first OP.
It wouldn't be fair on the dealer if you had just gone in accusing them of ''welding'' when you were in the wrong so well done.
There will be people out there though who do
