Bought used car from franchised ford dealership
Need some advice I just bought a used ford fiesta ecoboost 65 plate with 22,600 miles from premier ford franchised dealership last Tuesday i picked up the.
Yesterday i noticed there was some spider web cracking on the front plastic bumper and some on the rear bumper this is only after owing it for 4 days there is also some welding in the boot near the spare wheel under the carpet can anyone advise if it looks normal?
When I test drove the car it seemed ok and when i collected it could the damage be preexisting and any repair work not done properly hence why spiderweb cracks are appearing?

..can't comment on the spider cracks, maybe the result of some localised damage(?), and the "welding" looks more like a sealant to me?

Minor parking nudges, maybe stone chips on the bumpers. That last pic looks like it's probably a not-terribly-great localised paint repair. Nothing unexpected for a 5.5yo car. I'm sure those paint marks would have been visible pre-purchase...
That "welding" is seam-sealer and sound-deadener. Exactly how it would have left the factory.
Is it Ford approved-used? If so, you've got 30 days to swap it for a different car, if you want. But there's nothing suspicious there.
Ah, hold on. Ford only do approved-used up to 5yo, don't they? So it's just a second-hand car sold by a garage who happen to be a Ford dealer.0 -
Thanks so it sealant by the looks of it is it normal for the manufacturer to put it in the boot or is it something as a result leak or rear damage?Stubod said:..can't comment on the spider cracks, maybe the result of some localised damage(?), and the "welding" looks more like a sealant to me?0 -

Every welded seam on the bodyshell gets sealed to stop water getting between the two pieces of metal and rotting out from the inside.
No, they don't bother painting the bits you don't normally see.
Perhaps. Perhaps not. Depends on if you touch-park or get hit by flying stones.Samjef11 said:So not alot i can do the front plastic bumper will keep getting those spiderweb like cracks won't it itunsightly
But not so bad that you noticed pre-purchase.the car costed £7350
At most, 40% of the list price of a new one, then...and was part exchange by a elderly gentleman.
There y'go. Touch-parking.1 -
How much is it to repair the bumper damage would you imagine?AdrianC said:

Well, I've recently had the rear bumper on my Ford Focus repaired after a motorcyclist didn't notice that I had stopped and rode into the back of my car.Samjef11 said:

There was quite a bit of scuffing and gouging and one small crack and this was repaired by my local Chipsaway franchise for £330.
They removed the bumper and filled and smoothed the damage and repaired the small crack then sprayed the whole thing.
They had the car for a day and it looks like a new bumper.0 -
