Thanks fpr the replies. if I hear nothing more about it, then I shall let sleeping dogs lye.
Just a note from personal experience. The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I was driving my car that I had previously loaned to a relative, but the registered keeper was still his name and address. He got a NtO from the police for speeding, but I told him to complete the form to say that I was driving as it clearly was my driving  (46mph in a 40mph zone!) and not his. He sent it off but that was the last either of us heard. It seems they aren't always that efficient in chasing these up. Generally speaking they also will try more than once to contact you if they are considering taking it further, so you might be lucky. However, I should make it clear to other reading this, that to say someone else was driving when they actually weren't is taken extremely seriously by the courts and many have been imprisoned for perverting the course of justice as a result.

Just to report I have still heard nothing about this, and next week will see the end of the 27day period that the police have to notify me. so lets see what happens.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I think you need to fact check that again.
As I see it the NIP to owner must be sent by the police within 14 days of the offence, the owner has 28 days to respond naming the driver.
The police then have six months from the date of the offence in which to proceed.

But as stated before Pepipoo know more about these offences.
