A few days ago a sidebar appeared on the far left of Outlook when I log on to my most used email id as in the below edited image.

It used to look like this, and still does on other IDs that I have.

How do I get rid of it? I have looked through setting etc without success.

Thanks
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

As far as I'm aware its part of a new design that's being rolled out to give easier/better/more obvious access to the other Office365 applications

    Thanks tehone.

If that is the case then I will have to live with it.

It doesn't make that much difference.

Do you have Office365 linked to that account?

It's not an Office thing.  Everybody's getting it.

Bearing in mind all Outlook.com/Hotmail/MS accounts get access to some variant of Office even if its just the Lite version through the website.  Its obviously an MS thing to try and "unify" the experience between webmail and "proper" Outlook.

Don't you just love it when "improvements" are actually worse than the old decrepit system that you've had for years and works and you love?

By the same logic we'd still have men walking in front of cars waving red flags and two other people to drive the damn thing.

I don't use Office365. I have Apache OpenOffice for word processing. It also does spreadsheets etc but I don't need them.

I am retired with very simple email needs. I send and receive emails regularly from multiple Outlook and other accounts but I don't want or need 'To Do'  lists or anything else in that sidebar.

No matter. I am used to seeing that sidebar and it being there isn't a problem.

    Thanks everyone.

Yes but in that case we have improved.  My point was that sometimes "improvements" are not!

Can you go to 'settings' further right, at the top? Just wondering if the info in this link would help at all -

    https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/articles/212837048-How-to-remove-the-Sidebar-for-Outlook

Sorry if not but there is usually a way to get rid of 'improvements' if you don't like them. Not everyone does, as we know.

Another thought, what info is contained in the dots at the left hand top next to 'Outlook'? If you click on that does it give you any options to remove the sidebar?
