Dear fellow members,
Hope you and family are doing well in covid climate.
I receive this visa gift card from a friend, with £50 inside, similar to below.

I tried to use it at Tesco, Sainsbury; tried to use it online at Amazon, paypal, but all fails.
I called customer service hotline, but the customer service is almost non-existence. He told me to use at shop which accepts Visa, but I tried so many shops, none accepts this card. So I asked the customer service for some examples, but the customer service said he didnt know, I have to keep trying at different shop that accepts Visa. I feel this is insane.
The card expiry date is 08/21. I am getting concern. I just wanted to spend the money.
Any suggestion please?

I hate these types of card.
Have you tried buying amazon gift cards say for 49.00 as Amazon seem to pre authorise 1.00 before putting the main charge through on first use of a card?

When you register the card and log in to your account you should be able to see, according to the information about the card, the balance left to use - have you checked to see if there is actually £50 loaded?
Given that you have tried to use the card where Visa is accepted a number of times, have you tried telling the friend who gave you the card what a struggle you are having? That is, I'm not being funny but is there actually any money loaded onto the card? If your friend has paid £50 for this card and you cannot use it, it just seems like this company has ripped them off completely.
I'd definitely tell my friend. If they are such a good friend as to give you a £50 gift (which I think is really generous and lovely) then I think I'd feel quite comfortable letting them know that they've wasted £50. I don't know about you but that's a lot of money to me. And your friend does deserve to know about this as they may wish to claim a refund. You are not getting any help from anyone else, your friend is the last stop. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. This card is not new, it was my friend purchased it 2 years ago, and stuck with this problem, left aside until now. The card issuer charge £3 as annual fee. The current balance is £44, but the card expiry date is 08/2021. My friend gave it to me, £44 is mine if I can use it. £44 is not a small number. However, I cannot find a place that accept this card and cannot use the £44.
I registered and login there, there is indeed £44 in the card (because the card issuer deducted 2x £3 as annual fee from £50). From my conversation with the customer service, the card is indeed active with £44 balance.

If Paypay fails, then have you tried to use it on eBay. They take direct card payments now without having to use Paypal. If it works then buy a proper gift card.0
