  • ""Placebo effect" is a lot longer."

After painting a couple of contrasting stripes along my car, it was decidedly faster!

I'm sceptical about additives, but one I did read very good reviews for is ARCHOIL AR6400 D-MAX pro diesel DPF cleaner.
    It's not cheap, it's +£20 for 400ML.
I've got a bottle in the garage for if/when the wife's Evoque DPF displays a light.
    https://www.thedieselgarage.com/attachments/sds-20ar6400-20nl-en-pdf.36025/

    40-45% kerosene
30-50% a curing agent for epoxy adhesives
    20-25% a petrol product

And for that, they charge £50/litre.
If it works, i don't give a damn.
"If" is a very big word for only two letters.

"Placebo effect" is a lot longer.
Placebo effect doesn't apply if using this stuff literally makes a DPF warning light go away.
Many report it has, more than I've seen for any other of these products.

A very valid point that no one, no one at all could, or try to argue against.

    It won't. It can't.

I'll bet you that the people who've put it in have then gone on a good long hard run. Which, without the profitable homeopathy would have made the DPF light go out.

It does apply, because just like someones headache might improve if they take sugar pills (because it's almost always a self-limiting condition) the DPF light normally turns itself off once the exhaust has reached a certain temperature and burnt the soot off.

There are plenty of occasions where long runs don't make the DPF light go out and regens (passive or forced) don't work any more.
So, for the sake of argument, let's say a driver shoves this stuff in, doesn't change their driving habits and the light goes out.
    Still coincidence in your book?
Please feel free to read the myriad of reports from people who report it was literally the only thing that worked for them.
I've not had occasion to need it yet, but have got a bottle handy just in case.
