Redex Diesel System Cleaner
Options
My 2009 diesel (non dpf, short journey) has done 77k miles. It has failed emission MOT once when I didn't get my car hot.
Since then, I get on the motorway 20mins before my MOT and it has passed with flying colour.
I just saw it on offer for £2 (250ml)
Should I get it?
I have never used it before.
Does it have to used in full tank? Due to COVID, a full tank would take me a whole year.
Will half tank fuel okay? Do I pour it in before or after fueling up?

I've used Redex before. Never noticed a difference.Millers Diesel Power Ecomax on the other hand, I actually did notice an increase in MPG at least.IIRC you add it to 40ltrs minimum. I just chuck it in with a fill up.0

Fill the tank with either BP Ultima or Shell V Max a week before going for your MOT and again a high rev run (like you do on the motorway) just before.0

Big on homeopathy, are you?
250ml into 50 litres is 200:1, 0.5%
Here's the MSDS for it, which tells you what's in it.

It's "60-100%" (or about 93-98%, if you go by the other ingredient %ages), "Naphtha (petroleum), hydrotreated heavy". What is that? Well, if you google either of the EC or CAS numbers, which are statutory identifiers... it's paraffin, white spirit. You're welcome to pay £8/litre for that if you wish...
Now, why is your fuel system - the fuel pump, pipes, injectors - dirty in the first place, since it has nothing but solvent going down it all the time?0 -
Forte is the one the trade use.0

Oooh, it's a lot more complex than the Redex one.
So what is it... 50-75%... yep, white spirit again.1 -

I'm sceptical about additives, but one I did read very good reviews for is ARCHOIL AR6400 D-MAX pro diesel DPF cleaner.
It's not cheap, it's +£20 for 400ML.
I've got a bottle in the garage for if/when the wife's Evoque DPF displays a light.

40-45% kerosene
30-50% a curing agent for epoxy adhesives
20-25% a petrol product
And for that, they charge £50/litre.0
