Upgrade from galaxy s7?
Hi,
Can anyone either recommend a phone or a site to help with phone specifics, I have a galaxy s7 which has been fantastic, its now at the point its running slower at times, the battery is 6-8 hours usage in the day (low usage) and noticing the cameras age,
Wanting to change to a phone with a noticeably better main camera, wireless charging, on android that's not that much bigger than my s7. Looking to as cheap as possible, will either take a new contract or buy outright and carry on with cheap sim only.
Have had a look at a few comparison sites but can't seem to get a good phone choice. Wife has the Huawei nova 5t which is good but no wireless charging.
Any pointers or places to look to help compare would be appreciated,
Cheers
Khris

If it were me I would look as a used Galaxy S10 or even S20 depending on your budget0

Hello OP,
I am going to suggest what you may consider as a left-field consideration and that is to consider the Motorola Moto G-series. The latest one is the Moto G9Power (which is the one I'd go for) or the G10, and they are under £150. I note there is now also a higher-market G50 and G100, so the range is getting more complex and the higher-market versions are rather more expensive, around the £500 mark it seems.
I am sure you will think this is not what you want. I did once. I had the Samsung Galaxy S4 and then the S6. I realised that paying close to £1k a time (through contract) was not great financial sense so decided to go for the Moto G3 (purchased outright) and then a sim-only contract. The phone was brilliant and did everything I needed for 10% of the cost. So good, my wife switched to the Moto G5 at her next upgrade and I now have the G7 Power. I particularly like the battery on the G7 Power lasting several days. Feature-wise, it does everything I need or wish for.
Looking at your user-requirement, which is different from mine. My phone does not have wireless charging (and I can't see that listed for the G9 or any of the Moto G-series either) and the camera is not the highest specification that you get with the £1k Samsung. That said, I have found the camera to be perfectly suitable for my needs.
I'd still recommend the Moto G-Series, but accept it won't be for you if wireless charging is a "must".
That said, I was very apprehensive when I stepped from a £1k phone to £150 but have been pleasantly surprised. Don't be scared off from making a similar jump.

Thanks for the feedback,
@pbartlett
I'll take another look at the s10/20 costs, I had glanced at the s20fe but a few negative reviews ref excessive heat and being a much scaled back version.
@Grumpy_chap
Thanks, I'll take a look at the range, I'm not fussed about it being a Samsung, I had switched from my s3 to a Chinese copy after I broke it and was in contract, great phone but I find it harder to pick a good one with so much choice/names now.

I went from an S7 to an S10 and the physical difference in dimensions is small given that the screen size is virtually 1 inch larger. The camera is excellent and the whole phone is great to use.
If you can get a good used S10 then I highly recommend it.0 -
Look at the M series from Samsung. It is their attempt to compete with the Chinese new entrants. Usually available direct or via Amazon.
Otherwise, S10 lite or S20 FE are good second-hand options.0 -
Pixel 5 will tick the box
Pixel 4a if you can live without wireless charging.

Thanks All,
Ended up going in a slightly different direction, found a new S21 deal for £850 cost over 2 years but with £450 of cashbacks and vouchers so £400 net cost, all of £17 a month which im happy with as its £7 a month more than what i was paying and for £160 over the two years for an S21 im pleased with the balance.0
