  • Just keep reversing into their cars when you come off your drive; theyll soon park somewhere else.
Sounds a great idea, I'd definitely do this, I cant see any drawbacks at all

The road is a normal width street, only enough for one car to park on the kerb and another to get past on the road. We are in a crescent and on the inside so that's why it's a bit difficult. I kind of know the lady as it was her Dad's house (who had the same car as her and always put it up the drive so no problem)  It was just a chat and there was no problem, she said she prefered to park up the drive and once the drive was clear it would be done (still a mess). They had trouble where they used to live as a van parked over their drive so seems she understood Seems it's the husband who doesn't want to and now, out of spite just park further and further over. Some people are just inconsiderate but hey ho....

If its still a mess how can she park on there?

    Correct.

If they're not parking illegally and not preventing you from accessing your own drive, there's nothing you can do about it other than become as inconsiderate as them.  You have no more of a right to stop them parking there than they have a right to park there.

Are you driving into the driveway or reversing into it?
  • I have the same problem - it’s much easier if you reverse park onto your drive.
By doing this, it’s a lot easier to drive off.

She said it would be done in a few weeks back in December but seems just leaving it now. It's mainly a box with a load of wood in and it's only at the top of the drive still plenty of room for 2 cars. It wouldn't be a problem if they just moved up a few feet as no other drives in front of them, just being awkward

I can do this as long as there isn't cars on the other side. It's just the was we are on the curve, if it was straight it would be better.

Easier said than done and what about the claims/ins,etc?
Best way is to increase the width of the drive if feasible.

Doesn't take many of those before the OP finds they can't get car insurance or the premium goes up to an eye watering amount.
As this would be intentional it would also be criminal damage.

Another harebrained idea that no doubt in hindsight will be claimed as a joke.
Just doing it once wouldn't seriously affect the OP's insurance premium and might be enough to persuade the neighbours to think about their parking.  OK, OK, I'm joking ;)

However, I can understand the OP's problem.  I once lived in a smallish 'close' and the road was only just wide enough for two cars.  Not really a problem as all the houses had off-street parking and garages and cars were rarely parked on road.

I lived there for six years and probably parked my car on the road outside my house on just a dozen or so occasions, but TWICE in those six years my neighbour opposite reversed into the side of my car!   Not that it caused any rancour . . . we had always got on well with him (before and after) as he was our family GP :)  Plus, mine was a company car so I wasn't too bothered and the damage was quickly repaired.
but op does have a problem and solution is wider drive if feasible.
