Companies like these take the money from people who did not do due diligence. And ignore the costs and then proceeded.
They do not want people/customers phoning to get money back that the customer has provided.
As said sorry but in future only use .gov.UK sites for licences, passports etc.

Ad in BOLD next to the website is a give away too, as above, due diligence is the key. A fool and his money.......... applies here

Yes I will be more careful from now on to the people that said I ignored costs or was lazy etc that is not quite correct , but it is a lesson learned.

Yes they are misleading people and they know full well what they are doing.
OP how about getting in touch with your local MP about it? In the end the law has to change to prevent this type of thing.0 -

I have turned off any adblockers, I have accessed the first 5 ad sites, none look like the DVLA, They all have disclaimers, yes you have to scroll to see it.
What about sites that have..co.uk after them? that aren't UK companies.
In this day and age people need to take personal responsibility for being on the net, everything is well documented now.
They offer a service, how they and Passport renewal was changed some years ago to stop them using the gov logo etc1 -

On their home page the two following bits of information are clearly shown:
And the bolding to highlight the fact that they are not the official DVLA website was not added by me. That's exactly how it appears on the website.
The a little bit further down the page, this is shown (again, very clear and in no way hidden or ambiguous):
Then once you click on the tab to start applying, the following is clearly shown on every page where you are required to enter your details:
And all of those warnings are visible long before you even get to the payment page where you agree that you have read the applicable T&C's, and the following is right at the top of those terms and conditions so there's no need to scroll through reams of information to find it:
exactly how many more warnings and how much more information do you honestly expect a company to give before it can be expected for applicants to have a bit of personal responsibility for their actions and inactions?3
