I'm wondering if anyone more knowledgeable can help, as I'm going round the bend trying to fix this.
My Huawei phone has always been on Vodafone pay monthly, no problems,  As I'm now not working and don't really go anywhere, I swapped it to a pay monthly Plusnet on EE sim card.
Since my switch,I can't get my phone to work properly when away from the house (wifi).
People call me and it won't connect, saying my mailbox is full - but it isn't ringing my end.  I have terrible signal in trying to call people.  I don't get any messages - email or messenger or wotsap etc.  I use Android Auto and connect with a usb when in the car and the messages used to come on the car screen as a small notification sign, which I could say 'play message' and it would play.  I get nothing nothing.
It;s so strange.  My husband in the same situation - same phone, was vodafone and now Plusnet on EE has no problems.  We were out yesterday and I needed a number, my phone wouldn't work, his was fine.
I'm thinking its the phone but it's a strange coincidence it happened with the sim swap.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Sounds like you are not getting a good signal....Have you check to see what the signal is like in your area?
Also has JJ said above it could just be you phone is not setup right.

Could 2 identical phones get different signal strengths?  Both are the same age and same model/make.

We were in the car yesterday and one worked fine, yet mine had a terrible signal, and once I got home my messages came through again.  I've taken everything off the phone this morning and updated all my apps and software, am popping out in the car in a bit, so will test it again then.

I think the next thing is to swap the sim cards and see if the phone that is working, works with my sim card in.

I don't understand why my settings would change by swapping sim cards, but I'm also going to go down the settings on the phone that is working and make sure my setting match.

I keep thinking I'm only paying £8 a month now (it was something like £30 on vodafone), so really want to try and get it sorted.

    Thanks everyone

If your SIM doesn't work in your husband's phone, request a new SIM. If it does work normally, something's not right with your handset.

Your phone is unlocked, I presume?

Vodafone sold locked phones when the P20Pro was sold (I think they still do), did you request it to be unlocked when you moved networks?
