Green Network Energy Estimated Electric bill 4 months later
Hi all,
I'm one of the unfortunate GNE customers who is still waiting for EDF to acknowledge me.
We have been paying our DD of £107 ish every month since September, however, I checked my online account 2 weeks ago to see we were £700 ish in credit and no bill had ever been produced. Last night I checked and we have had an estimated electricity bill of £710 for 3 months, Sep-Dec 20.
We have smart meters and have been providing readings so no need for an estimate especially one that high, it's never cost us £200 plus a month in electricity.
In contrast, our Gas bill is £90 for the same time period, with readings!
Who can I contact to get this remedied? I have cancelled my DD now as they are saying I owe them £150 plus whatever they decide to bill me for Dec-Mar. Which is absolute rubbish.
I contacted Citizens advice to say I hadn't been billed before and they couldn't really help me, so reluctant to try again unless I really have to. They did however give me the details of the administrators. Any advice very much appreciated!
Thanks
Kat

Could you give us some meter readings please from when you became a GNE customer and also from today.
Just because your meters were once Smart it doesn't mean that GNE could access them and the system relies on you giving monthly reads.
Where has your Sept - Dec bill come from if not from GNE's dashboard ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

This is what shows, but I submitted a meter reading when I first joined. however, it just shows as Estimated. They sent a meter reader round but he worked for a different company, I had a young baby and no knowledge of their visit and was wary so asked him to come back another day, called GNE they confirmed they outsource meter readers, but as we have a smart meter we did not need to have them read. I never heard anything else from them.

This looks like you are in an all electric property - register 2 being the night-time and you consumed 8000 units in the 4 months (2000 a month) (ignoring the estimated in Dec). It's likely that you will consume another 6000 Jan to April and perhaps 3000 April to Sept That's 17,000 night time at say 12p thats £2000.
Assuming the day time is typical 3000 then at 17p thats £500.
£2500 in total - £200 a month.
Could you read your meter please.
"and they took that money as payment, except they estimated way over" Two points - a DD is not full payment - it's a payment into a kitty. Use more and you will have to pay more ; although the Dec readings say estimated at least the night time is very consistent with the actual in January.
I had my meter read by a contractor on behalf of GNE last summer.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
@ibiza1984
Can you have a look at the yellow label on the meter itself please - this should show an installation date (I'm guessing) Sept/Oct 2019 and meters reads for both night time and day time of 0000.0. Does the meter have one of those little key pads ?
Were you in the property at that time ?
Who was your supplier previous to GNE ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

I had my meter read by a contractor on behalf of GNE last summer. No we are not all electric. Heating and cooker is gas. We were on pay as you go with Eon previously and never spent anywhere near £200/month, more like £400 a quarter. I understand how a Dd works but Each post says never pay an estimated bill I am simply clarifying I did not pay it out of choice, they used my kitty towards it.
I have since tried to submit my current electric meter reading and it says it’s lower than expected and to check, I have a photo of it but it won’t let me submit it so somethings up surely0 -
