Getsafe Insurance - Anyone have any experience?

I took out a policy with them last year. A month ago I got an email telling me that they would not be renewing any policies in the UK.
Just looked at the app on my phone and when I went to turn off the auto-renewal it tells me it won't be able to guarantee I'll get the promised price, which is £40 cheaper than the policy I've since sourced. I've emailed them for clarification but I think I'll be sticking with the other quote, regardless.
I do like the app, it's clear and well laid out but it just doesn't seem worth the risk to stay with them0 -
I'd double check the previous email, there is nothing on their site nor in the specialist press to suggest they are exiting the UK market0

I've been with Getsafe for 2 years now.
Here's what it said[Critical Info] Changes to your insurance coverage
Hi,
Together with our underwriters, we’ve been reviewing the insurance risk criteria of our UK customers. As a result, we’ve had to take the difficult decision to not renew any policies at this time.
Unfortunately, this means we’re unable to offer a renewal of your insurance policy. We understand that this is an inconvenience for you, and sincerely apologise.
We want to help you find the best alternative provider for your insurance, and so we encourage you to explore policies available your preferred price comparison website. It is important to us that you are able to make an informed decision about your future coverage.
Please note that your current insurance coverage with Getsafe will conclude on xx.xx.2024.
We want to thank you for being a Getsafe customer and appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.

This is the worst insurance company that has ever existed. People have bad experiences around claims etc but I had to take them to the ombudsman over the home emergency cover, took them a week to send someone out, they were difficult to contact, they make it as hard as possible - contact numbers are buried, the policy document contained in some small print on one page how to use your emergency cover and the number they had printed was incorrect so it didn't connect (I suspect intentionally). In the end it was useless. I just won my ombudsman case after a lot of fighting.Now I need to make a claim on my legal protection. Called them, impossible to get through - go into a queue and eventually it says nobody is available and hangs up. Did that for hours. Phoned the emergency number in the end, said I want to make a legal claim, they said ah you need the legal team. Asked them what the number was, they didn't know. They were able to transfer me though. The guy there said do you have a claim, I said no I want to make a claim, and he said you have to use the app. I said I used the app, and the app just said to make a claim e-mail us at <address> and I've done that and no response. Ah well, nothing we can do until you have a claim.So I sent another e-mail. It's been four days so far. Even tried twitter, who just said to e-mail them.It feels like they don't have any staff. Another e-mail to the ombudsman is coming. I'm just glad I can wait a little bit for this - if I was using it to defend against a legal issue, I'd be completely screwed.Considering their site seems to indicate they're still taking new people on, I figured I'd just personally been blacklisted from renewal so it's interesting other people have had the same message.Maybe they're just winding down and don't give a cr*p anymore. Either way I would avoid them like the plague.0
