Talk Talk being awkaward?

I received an email from Talk Talk informing me of an up coming price increase on the 8th April. It thanked me for being a loyal customer and informed me that if I decided not to continue with Talk Talk i could leave without any penalties. The following is from the email;- "Thanks for being a loyal TalkTalk customer. We want you to stay with us, but you can choose to leave us before 8th April 2021 without any charges. After this date, there will be an early termination charge if you cancel your broadband within your minimum contracted term."
I decide to find a cheaper deal and went to Plusnet, on the 29th March, who lodged their intent to take over the supply giving a switch date of 13th April. I contacted TAlk Talk and was told that it was in the hands of Plusnet now and there was no need for me to do anything. Talk Talk have now informed me that I am liable for exit fees of approximately £100.13p.
I have been with Talk Talk since August 2017 and have not signed a new contract with them but my account states my contract end dat as Jan 2022.
Am I ound by contract to pay these fees or are they just pulling a fast one. I called TT today and they said that they can't do anything as the account is now frozen and controlled by Plusnet. Something that Plusnet deny.
Can anyone advise please?

    Not awkward .
PRICE INCREASE to leave penalty free   (see multiple identical posts ).
Get email contact TT and say due to price increase you wish to leave penalty free  >> They agree .You are free to move .
  • Thanks for that JJ. I tried that. I gave the reason for leaving as being due to the price increase. They were still not for budging. I have now had to cancel the transfer and stay with TT for now. Not a happy bunny. They did offer a cheaper and inferior package which I declined. The cheaper package was not offered originally. Standard business practice now, I suppose.

They do try and intimidate for a while and send conflicting letters. I was 6 months into a 18 month contract However, I've just had a final farewell letter from them wishing me all the best,  waiving all early exit charges and not requiring return of equipment. To be honest this has restored my faith in TT and I will consider them again in the future.
