Working from home tax relief 2021/22

It doesn’t look like there is tax relief again for working from home for 2021/22. I work for a university and my role does not have contact with students, so many departments like mine are still having to work from home - probably until the Autumn. It’s then likely we will have to work from home some days of the week due to changes to our ways of working because of Covid-19.

New tax year hasn't started and the micro-service was set up for HMRC ease, normally it's fill a form in.

Lots of us are working from home and will do a mix of home / office location work when things revert to normal. It's also about time companies did see people don't have to be in the office to work and move towards split locations.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Employees have been able to claim a working from home deduction for some years now, provided that their employment contract required them to work from home. In 2020/21 it was possible to claim for 52 weeks even if you didn't have to work from home all year, and that may well not be repeated for 2021/22.
  • Hi,
I went through the checking if I'm eligible process and apparently I am; and went through the claim process - and was told I don't need to make another claim for this year (2021/22). However, my personal tax dashboard says the tax relief allowance is not applicable this year! I'm confused - does anyone know how we might get in touch with HMRC to double check? Thanks.

It's early days; the new tax year only started today. I would hope that HMRC set up a micro site like they did last year - the one for 2020/21 was only available a few months in the pandemic.
  • My tax code for 21-22 has altered to take into account the working from home tax relief.
Been around since 2008 but somehow my profile was deleted!!!

  • I followed the link from martins news page to claim tax relief for working from home, am I supposed to create a gov account as this seems to be requesting?
I don’t recall having to do this last year.

I’m a teacher and was told that I could deliver Easter revision (but the sessions had to be delivered virtually as we weren’t allowed into the school building).

Even though I was paid for delivering the sessions, the payment was at the same hourly rate as was delivered two years ago.

Do I qualify for the scheme based on the aforementioned?

Was this as employed or self employed income?

If as employed and you were required to work from home then yes.

The additional payment for doing the revision class is to be added to my monthly salary payment.
