You're not a bore Ditty it's why we are all here  :)

I try to follow a SW type diet, when I do it probably it does work I did go to meetings 10/12 years ago and lost 4 stone unfortunately life happened and I dealt with it by eating and reclaimed it plus some 🙄 the problem with having my gall bladder out was I could eat the three Cs again cheese, chocolate and cream amongst other bad things.

    . . .
I am a bit undecided on the method. I have found Slimming world-esque diets to be the most effective, but the hardest to keep going, and calorie counting is an absolute pain in the Rs.

    . . .
All I want is to put in the exact weight of the food I am using in grams, and it counting the calories for you, rather than being told that 100g of chicken is such and such and I have to calculate what 117g grams of it might be. (I cant)
The Weight Watchers app does this, but you have to add it all up yourself, and it costs a fortune.
    . . .

I've recently re-started keeping my own soft copy food diary in Word (and then I can also export to Excel if I want).  (I stopped a while back when my then laptop refused to work following a Windows update!)

There's the effort in the first place as you enter the food item with weight and calories (and anything else you want to track - I do the full works including protein, fibre and salt) but then a search will find things for you another time and you copy and paste the information into the day's record.   I think most of us probably have a lot of repeat items - I find bananas are usually 100g, 115g or 125g for example and so you only have to work out the values for each once.  (In fact you could put it into Excel and, with a bit more effort, be really precise but I don't worry whether it is actually 115g or 117g.)

I have a new table in the Word document for each day and Word will add the columns for you.  I suppose it depends on how well you can use Word whether this works for you.
