I cant fathom why people like minis,BUT is each individual choice,I don't like BMW either, I like Citroen's ,don't why (haven't got one at moment)BOWFER said:

With a 15-minute drive, I'd recommend a petrol (or hybrid).SUVs are not as big inside as you might think - and there are plenty of cars bigger than a polo.
Perhaps a Suzuki Vitara?
The Vitara, especially, has to be one of the most 'unstyled' car on the road, it literally looks like a kid has made a car out of wooden blocks.
I can only imagine it's blind customer loyalty that keeps them going, it cannot be new buyers when all their cars (all of them...) are easily bettered by the competition.
Purely in terms of styling alone the latest Vauxhall Mokka blows the Vitara into pensioner land.
I'm not brand snobbish, I get what is the best deal for me..0 -
Of course not but then why should I if it only takes minutes to fill up when I'm out. I'm not anti-EV but my time is valuable and I don't want to waste it making trips to spend hours on end waiting for my car to fully charge.BOWFER said:
Do you have a petrol pump at home?neilmcl said:
It's possible that they don't have anywhere to charge it at home, like a lot of us don't. Not everyone has off-road parking and the ability to install a charging point, in fact I'd guess a sizeable majority don't. The lack of local infrastructure is still a big stumbling block for those who want to make that consideration.MX5huggy said:
Indeed, but they should be considered, 15 miles per day and space for a pram. Doesn’t exclude an EV. If they visit the in laws 500 miles away every weekend towing a caravan as they live in an 18th floor flat, maybe not.JamoLew said:
Cost and/or limited choice would be my guessMX5huggy said:Tell me why you don’t want an electric car?
There might be other considerations such as lack of off road parking which can make the whole charging overnight thing a bit tricky
Plenty of EV owners already manage without home charging.
They charge elsewhere, either on trickle chargers while they go shopping etc.
Or they sit in their cars and look at their phones for 1/2 an hour on a rapid charger (parking is often free if you're sitting in the car whilst charging)
It might not suit you, the anti-EB brigade will always find something to gripe about, but it's do-able.2 -
Yes likes of video reviews detailed ones, feedback from owners, service costs etc,Supersonos said:Read online reviews, watch YouTube reviews, go and see the cars you like, test drive them.

The boot on the Mokka is tiny though. The Vitara isn't that bad to look at and seems pretty practical, I'd have one but I'm largely unbothered about how my cars look.

Don't forget beauty is in the eye of the beholder - it doesn't matter what other people think of its looks and styling - your money, your choice.
Practical aspects however are different0 -
Estate all the way. With prams, even a Fabia estate is better than most SUVs. Don't even contemplate anything Audi Q2 size.0

More than part of the beauty of an EV is that you can literally walk away and do other stuff while it's charging.

I'm just looking at the facts, and that is that Suzuki are behind the competition.
Look at the reviews, they all say the Vitara is behind the similarly priced competition on terms of interior materials and quality.
And they all say resale is a worry.
You buy something like a T-ROC instead and people will flock to your door to buy it used.
Be lucky if the phone rings at all when you try and sell a used Vitara.
And, the OP is obviously young, the Vitara does not give a young vibe....0 -
Suzuki are rebadging the RAV4 PHEV, but the price is eye-watering....I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

No, but I bet the vast majority have the convenience of being able to charge it up overnight at home. Don't try and argue that having an EV at the moment in this country is just as convenient as having a petrol/diesel car because it certainly is not.BOWFER said:
